Is it cheaper/quicker/less regular to maintain dark hair?

I get my hair bleached every 8 weeks (full head of foils) it costs over £100 each time, takes over 3 hours, and I'm having to keep my hair short due to the fact it won't grow very long due to damage. I do really like the colour though!

Looking for the plus sides for going dark, is it quicker and cheaper? I assume it still needs to be done the same frequency (In a salon).

I'm naturally dark with some silver hairs starting to show up now Sad

My hairs is dark, and in great condition. I just use John Frieda’s colour deposit shampoo to keep the greys at a minimum. I wash it every five days and blow dry only once a month or so. Basically I try not to handle it too much which is why it’s still shiny.

Yes definitely cheaper. I lightened my hair for years. During lockdown I went dark, and my hair is now much longer, healthier, and I can go longer between (cheaper) hairdresser visits

If you have greys you’ll probably still want your roots doing every 8 weeks.
It might be cheaper and easier to grow though.

Like you I am naturally dark, have been having my hair highlighted blonde for some 23 years now. I have tried going back dark twice because it would be nice to be able to throw on a box dye instead of spending hours in the hair salon, but both times I just couldn’t live with it and ended up going back to the highlights.

At 43 I have a good chunk of greys coming through now and I find this helps me go longer between hairdressers visits. I am booked a full head of foils in 10 days time, the last time I had it done was 8 months ago. Granted I have had to hide my roots the last couple of months, and they are in definite need of doing but the greys hide nicely in the blonde and is far less noticeable than it would be against dark hair.

8 weeks and my roots would be horrific. I could never leave them that long. The great thing about having blonde hair is that grey isn't as noticeable and roots can be left longer. I have dark hair and needs my roots doing every 4 weeks so bear that in mind when considering cost
