I had a black faux fur coat once and also a black labradoodle. I was walking along the street to meet my mother and she doubled over laughing in the street at how ridiculous it looked, I didn’t even realise! Never again!

Disastrously, we have two dogs—one yellow with a white undercoat, one black with dark grey undercoat. Both moult like bastards twice a year. I am always scruffy-lookin', as is my house.

We have an old dusty house with lots of furballs in the corners.
But I'm thrilled that M&S Cappuccino & Nutmeg Cashmere don't show up the dog or my blonde hair. And camel coats are brilliant. However sadly my sofas still smell of incontinent dog from my old spaniel who passed away a year ago. We have washed the covers but desperately need new sofas.

My new favourite hoodie is black.

My dogs are white.

My kitchen lino is colour matched to the mud they trek in from the back garden (a sort of warm charcoal) which must have saved me hours in cleaning.

Excellent forward planning @Motorina. Mines that sort of biscuity colour that shows every speck of dirt, but it does match the spaniel. I hear you on the black. I've got black cashmere on today that's now accessorized with sourdough, flour & it seems like half my head of hair.

Buy a non shedding dog. You will spend a small fortune on taking the thing to the salon for its cut and blow dry but your clothes will remain dog hair free.

Don’t make the mistake I made of inadvertently buying a coat in the same bright colour as said non-shedding dog’s Equafleece - mortifying when you have to explain that no, your coats weren’t purposely bought to match.

And carpets and furniture!
