What is your go to restaurant outfit?

I'm going for a Christmas meal at a restaurant with a group. The dress code for the event is wear whatever makes you feel good. Some people will go all out in sequin dresses and heels, others will go for jeans and a nice top. I feel completely lost. I would normally go for a dress because its a complete outfit but I've not been able to find anything that really works on my 5 foot 4, size 14-16, pear shaped body. What would you wear?

I like a dress - both for comfort since jeans feel tight since I put on weight but also as it feels a bit more 'dressed up' for a nice Christmas meal / evening out than what I might wear to the local pub if dh and I go on impulse when we cba to cook.

Sparkly dress, black tights and heels.

Jumper dress and knee boots so easy no styling required

I have what I call my 'fine dining poncho'. It is a fine wool black poncho with sparkly stuff around the edges and collar. I usually wear it with black leggings and black boots. It is good when it is cold out but a restaurant is hot as I can wear a t-shirt under it and my arms aren't tightly covered in cloth so I stay cool. It looks smart and nobody can see that I'm wearing a t-shirt or other casual top under it. It's also hard to see what my figure is too.

Anything goes in London now even in the top restaurants, so I'll wear a pair of jeans and dress them up with a nice blazer and bag, nice jewellery.. job done.

Nothing tight fitting!

Of course, you should choose comfortable clothes.

If it is a formal occasion, you can't be too casual. Analyze the specific situation.

I'm going out tonight with friends for a meal and I am wearing wide leg black velvet trousers and a gold shimmery top. The outfit looks glam but it feels so comfortable on.
