Comfortable low heel wide fit shoes .... that look dressy?

I'm asking for the moon on a stick aren't I?

I haven't worn heels in years, but I want to dress up a bit glam for my 50th party (cocktail dress) and I don't think my usual suede wedge ankle boots are really the thing!

I don't want to spend a fortune because I'm unlikely to wear them much, but there's definitely a gap in my wardrobe for some dressier shoes, but I need wide fit / comfortable too.

(I have some nice flat black shoes - ballerina style with a cross over strap - but I have always thought flats with a dress aren't quite right).

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance

You can wear flats with dresses.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 02/12/2024 20:06

Sure I won't be the last to suggest Esska. Platform with lowish heel, come in loads of colours and styles, incredibly comfy.

I say this as someone who hates heels! Bought a pair for a couple of summer weddings. They're all around £160ish I think.

Sargasso and Grey do beautiful wide fit flat shoes. I wore some for my wedding

I would also like to see more suggestions and ideas

What about little boots? I got these and wore them with a long dress . They were comfy , come in silver too

@GettingStuffed Trouble is shoes like that look like something the late Queen would wear. I’m following this thread Op cos I’m the same… can’t wear flats either!

SparkysNightmare · 03/12/2024 11:42

New Look usually has a good selection of wide fit shoes. E.g: Silver block heel - they have those ones in black too.

Sorry to join the throng but dd who has very wide feet also buys from Sargasso and Grey. Jones and Clarkes have some wide fitting styles too but she doesn't like them as much or find them as Comfortable.

Gettingbysomehow · 03/12/2024 12:05

Van Dal do wide fit smart shoes. Not too horrifically priced too.

Alifemadelessordinary · 03/12/2024 12:06

OP, I'd go for something open toe with a cocktail dress. Otherwise I think it would look quite frumpy.
What about these?

anon2022anon · 03/12/2024 12:26

Matalan is worth a look- they tend to do a good, low block heel, for under £30. Obviously not great materials, but for wearing twice a year they're fine. I find a max heel height of 3-4 cm is okay to deal with

Bigminnie1 · 03/12/2024 13:02

I have wide feet with bunions! Posted for advice here. Someone suggested Simple Be and I got some really nice small heels from there. And they were comfortable.

Hariborocks · 03/12/2024 13:17

A vote for Calla shoes. Not as expensive as Sargasso and grey and really nice styles.

Oblomov24 · 03/12/2024 17:23

I have very wide feet, I like the M&S wide shoes, and deichman. I bought these and they are so soft material that they fit wide feet comfortably. So comfy.

Esska or Next Forever Comfort range.

JC03745 · 03/12/2024 23:30

I can't help I'm afraid OP.
I'm shamelessly saving this thread, due to my hobbit wide feet! 😬

ErrolTheDragon · 04/12/2024 00:23

Apart from the obvious ones like m&s, are any of these available in high street shops? I'd never buy shoes online, nominal sizes can vary so much.

SophieStrange · 04/12/2024 03:20

Those M&S court pumps would look right for an evening do, otherwise Crockett & Jones-type loafers with a slight heel if it’s the daytime.
