Coat/jacket for my 14 year old daughter

My 14 year old refuses to wear a coat to school because they are tight after she has her jumper and blazer on. Please help me find something with loose arms that won't make her feel icky. Ideally not tk expensive perhaps upto about £40

I could do with help too.
My daughter doesn't want a a puffer coat and that seems to be all that's about.
Absolute nightmare

All the girls I see wear north face puffa jackets which cost a fortune. And probably still are tight with blazer/jumper under. I think this has always been a problem, maybe just a trip to Primark or new look and see what they have. My son has an Abercrombie jacket I got off eBay which he wears over blazer etc it's a nice loose fit puffa with a soft furry lining maybe try eBay or Vinted for something?

She used to have a lovely Gap puffer but not an overfilled one like the ones that are about now. She grew and her sister is wearing that now!

My girl is a but alternative and won't wear a puffer at all now! I absolutely dispare She came home woth blue lips and was freezing but still refuses to wear the 3 coats She has because of the arm issue!

Duffel coat?

LigamentBandy · 04/12/2024 02:12

Oodie do outdoor coats + 50% off so around £55 so higher than you wanted, but if she going to wear it it might be worth it?

My DD same age was equally reluctant but has been happy with this one from M&S not bulky so easy to stash in blazer but keeps the cold away just enough.
Might not be your DDs style but thought I would share in case it helps anyone.

If it's any consolation my DD11 wont wear a coat at all at the moment. She wears base layers though, a long sleeved top under her school blouse, thermal tights, a fleece gilet under her blazer and has a packaway gortex anorak for when it rains. she says she's alright for now, we'll reopen the coat discussions in January 🙄

LigamentBandy · 04/12/2024 10:18

The m+s jacket is nice, but it's pretty short/square irl

Appleberrybloom · 04/12/2024 10:23

What about a gilet? You can get some puffer style ones with a hood, would be an extra layer without restricting arms.
