Please help me find shoes for with this dress

This dress is for my work Christmas night out.

Although I rarely wear them these days, it's definitely heels I want. High, but not crazy thin. Chunky maybe?

I'd love a pair of Esska's but I can't really justify the cost considering how little I'd wear them now.

I'll be wearing black tights, so not anything full sandal style, but maybe sheer enough that I could get away with peep toe? And will need an ankle strap.

Or should go for some kind of ankle boot?

Help please!

I think ankle boots

Turmerictolly · 30/11/2024 15:08

Yes black tights and heeled ankle boots but not pointy ones.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/11/2024 15:08

I think heeled ankle boots would be good with black tights.

Christine1998 · 30/11/2024 15:13

Block heeled ankle boots will look lovely. Gorgeous dress

DisplayPurposesOnly · 30/11/2024 15:19

I like these but basically silver shoes of your choice

Black block heel suede ankle boots. Loads around at different price points if you have a quick google. Some v cheap ones in Debenhams but also M&S, dune and John Lewis options.

No footwear suggestions cos I dodder about in assorted in Birkenstocks all year round (even have a shiny silver pair for weddings).
Just felt the need to chime in to say that is a lovely dress and you look fabulous in it.

bringmesunshiiine · 30/11/2024 20:31

I already have these boots. Would they do, do you think?

Although I don't love them, I can't find any others that I like any better (that aren't £300, anyway).

Will wear tights, but shown without to show more clearly what they look like.

The boots are nice, no need to spend money on new ones.

umdontdothat · 30/11/2024 21:41

Photo 1 is a perfect combination. Lovely outfit.

NomDePrune · 30/11/2024 22:19

Your boots, your dress, with metallic black/silver tights. Perfect

Like these?

I wondered if that was too much with the sparkly dress? Maybe I can go OTT for Christmas

Quite a few of the younger women are back in sheer black tights with mini dresses and then boots at the moment, just if you want some variety from the matt black- I think the outfit looks great.

bringmesunshiiine · 30/11/2024 22:47

Yes, it was sheer black I was planning to wear, I just don't have any at the moment. I do really like some of the ones with sparkle too, but maybe they are better worn with a plain skirt/dress

@bringmesunshiiine Buy some good tights, shiny crappy tights can ruin an outfit , I also think non pointy boots would look great

Happiestwhen · 30/11/2024 22:56

I think it looks fab with just the boots (no tights) show off your fantastic legs 👌

Garlicpest · 30/11/2024 23:40

Wow, you look fantastic! Don't buy more shoes (I can't believe I just wrote that 😂) but do get some thinner tights. There are plenty with more of a shimmer than a glitter now, I think they'd be good.

HeartOfChocolate · 01/12/2024 00:36

How about black or silver sling backs with closed toe?

Letmegohome · 01/12/2024 00:39

Imo black tights look nicest won't you freeze bare legged?! I'm always cold so it might just be me!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/12/2024 08:53

The black tights and boots look good.

I think sparkly plus the printed dress will look a bit strange. Get some sparkle from earrings or a bracelet instead maybe.

bringmesunshiiine · 01/12/2024 17:47

I'd consider going bare legged if it wasn't to be worn in Glasgow mid December. Tights will definitely be required! Although the dress itself is velvet, so I might be roasting at the venue.

The dress isn't printed. It has crystals on it, which is why I thought sparkly tights might be a bit much. My bag is sparkly too, so once I add the earrings, I think that's plenty,

Resurrecting to ask if I should perhaps get these shoes to wear instead of the boots I showed?
