Which to wear for work Christmas lunch?

I have recently started a new job and our Christmas do is coming up. It is just a lunch at a local hotel, I don’t think I’ll go for drinks after but it’s always a possibility. My colleagues think I’m posh for coming in with my reusable coffee cup soo it won’t be a particularly dressy affair 🥲 but I’m looking to buy something new as I’m currently rebuilding my wardrobe.

I bought the M&S sequin jacket from the advert but the colour is just not great on me sadly so it’s going back. I have my eye on the below waistcoats, which is the least boring? To wear with black wide leg trousers and a ballet flat (perhaps a pointy toe).

Won't it just be whatever you wear to work that day? Or is someone likely to suggest Christmas jumpers?
I'm not a huge fan of the waistcoats, not least because of the cold factor and i think it would look a bit odd to wear something over them.

It’s a Friday so I’ll be wfh in the morning, most people in my office wfh most days anyway. We get 4 hours off for Christmas lunch (or early finish another day) so won’t need to log on after ☺️

I did see some Christmas jumpers in M&S that I thought would be fun!

I'd choose the longline New Look one of the three.

I think I like the New Look one the best, but I would wear a thin or even sheer top under. There are a few at New Look to stay under budget.

A lot depends on what the done thing is in your office and that varies from work place to work place. In my office any of those waistcoats with nothing underneath, particularly the second one, would get you some very odd looks.

Any of those waistcoats with a good quality white cotton shirt underneath , fine.
