What to wear with Navy wide leg cords?

BellyWibbles · 23/11/2024 23:10

Bought the brown m&s wide leg cords and love them.
Want to get more but they only have Navy in my size.

I'm very much a black/brown/rust/darker red/ dark grey/dark green person

I've never had anything navy, honestly!

I have no idea what to pair with.

I love rust and navy together, a nice v neck sweater? Or a forest green cable sweater?

Bobbybobbins · 23/11/2024 23:51

A bright pink could be a good contrast. Maybe tan for a more classic combo.

FiveStoryFire · 24/11/2024 07:40

Grey looks good with navy

Mmmkaay · 24/11/2024 09:14

I can't think of a colour that wouldn't look good with navy tbh. Maybe dark brown would be a bit dull. But tobacco, ochre, dark red - all wonderful. So your current pallet would probably have loads of options.

GettingStuffed · 24/11/2024 09:26

Rust and navy work well together as do grey and dark red.

I think that navy is a very versatile colour and there's very few colours it won't work with.

What's your colour season? Because what you wear in top is more important with your face/hair. Loads of things go with navy, it's my main staple!

I have absolutely no idea what that means

I have a few.paira of smart navy shorts or chinos in summer and wear them with a lot of off white/cream/gray..I also have a couple of tops in multi colours but orange, pink dominating and they both look great too. I have done pale green too. But I am.not sure if summer makes a difference to how this all feels?

Dark red, rust, grey, black, all these go with navy

spanglypen · 24/11/2024 10:23

lol! It's an 80s trend that has come back round. I was skeptical but since finding out in a Spring it honestly had helped me loads when choosing clothes because I can just ignore entire sections. (Of course you can chose the break the rules if you want to but it's handy as a broad brush tool.

People use a service - eg Colour Me Beautiful - to find out which colours suit them best @BellyWibbles. You end up with a colour palette based around the seasons of the year that suits your hair colour, eye colour and skin tone. I remember it was huge back in the nineties when I used to read a lot of style and beauty magazines. I tend to just have a sense of which colours look awful on me🤣 But then I'm not particularly adventurous with colours anyway so I'm probably not the best person to be talking about this! <<stares at wardrobe full of black clothes>>

Oops, @spanglypen beat me to it while I was arsing around with a reply and making a cup of tea at the same time!
