Is tights with open toed shoes a no-no?

I have a lovely dress I’d like to wear for my works Xmas day out and also some lovely heeled sandals. Trouble is my legs are no good at being bare - I’m 51 and past the days of bare legs.

ideally I’d like opaque tights but these would look really weird with sandals. I’d wear sheer tights I guess but the toe seam on the tights would be visible and I’d feel very granny.

would I be better off wearing a dainty boot with the dress rather than sandals?

the dress is knee length and black and a bit sparkly. What’s the done thing now? I’m so out of touch!

I wear opaque tights with shoes or boots but I find, invariably, the toe seam uncomfortable. It goes under my foot. I don't normally have sensory issues with clothing but the toe seam on tights drive me bonkers .
Are there any opaque tights without a toe seam ?

I wear tights with open toe shoes! Not skin coloured though, always patterned like a fishnet or herringbone design.

Agree with this - lure tights also look great with an open toe shoe too

I’d probably be tempted to get a bright pedicure done which may show through with those tights. I love those tights. 😍

If one is going to wear lurex tights and open toe shoes, then a bit of nail polish shining through really isn't going to be a problem, nor distraction for that matter 😂
