Lost 5 stone-please help me find killer Xmas dress

I need help!

I've recently lost 5st (thank you 💉)

I have a big work night out in a fancyish hotel in a few weeks and would love something I feel great in.

I love clothes and am confident dressing myself in everyday life but feeling overwhelmed after years of no fancy nights out and when I have been dragged out having to wear what ever covered me the most.

I'm 5ft 10 so need to watch length or else it looks inappropriate, I've long legs/short body and tall section clothes never sit right on me so I usually end up buying from normal section.

I'm hourglass shape with huge boobs (need resized since weight loss but I'm around a 32G/K, looking at me front on I do go in at the waist but from the side I have a mum tum.

I'd say I'm around a size 14 but may need to size up in dresses due to boobs!

My style is more edgy/rock chick, I wouldn't wear anything girly or with feathers etc but could be persuaded with sequins possibly.

I already have black and silver shoes with an appropriate low heel so I don't end up looking like a giraffe next to everyone else.

I'm 41 if that makes any difference.

Don't have a budget as such but would ideally be under £150 as I still want to lose a bit more weight.

Please any help appreciated!

Oh yes! Totally on the right lines with that! If only it was a bit lower/v neck.

All saints sounds like it would be your kind of thing.

Disturbia have some cool rock chick style glamour dresses

Wow very well done on the weight loss.

I am older and a much more conservative dresser so no idea re where to shop.

Maybe try some clothes on, on the high street. Or alternatively as you are fairly tall you could join Tallternative facebook group and create a post like you have done on here. Say you are in the UK, how tall you are, a bit about what sort of style you like and maybe what sort of colours suit you and I am sure someone will recommend something suitable.

I was in Oliver Bonas the other day and they had so many wonderful party clothes. I looked on their website afterwards but def the selection in store was better and much easier to see properly.
And dresses/separates well within your budget

Evenstar · 20/11/2024 23:31

Joanie have some lovely party things and 40% off at the moment https://joanieclothing.com//the-edit/party-time.html

On Yours clothing which starts at a 14. Click on party dresses. There is a lovely dark green sparkly fitted dress with a split. I tried it on but it looked silly on me because I was not tall enough for it but you would be. It's the 67th dress if you count down the page. It won't let me past an image.

Congratulations on the weight loss, what an amazing achievement.

Given your style, I would probably say All Saints too. Reiss is my usual go to although its very pricey. But you might find something there.

Thank you everyone, I'm checking out all suggestions and appreciate them all!

There's some great ideas I've never considered before.

That's absolutely beautiful but I reckon OP won't want to go braless with that open back.

I think something like that could look really good with the sequins and the high neck though. I have big boobs myself and avoided high necks for years but they actually really work, so I recommend not only looking at a plunging neckline. A high halter neck top with bare shoulders also looks good with a big chest and hourglass figure.
