I noticed a lot of women wearing variations of the same look. Can only describe it as lounge sets of a jumper and trousers in neutral colours (mostly beige, some grey or blush or black). A lot of them were ribbed with wide leg or slightly flared legs. Knitted material. Most had a big coat over the top and wore with trainers.

Not joggers and a sweatshirt. Softer and more pyjama-adjacent 🤣

Anyone know what I'm talking about and where to look for this kind of thing that isn't £££? Quite fancy some for wearing about the house.

I have very dark hair, pale skin and red lips and let me tell you, we vampires cannot carry off the cream ribbed co-ord look.

A twinge of regret when we saw the 19 year old and all her glowy collagen casually stepping off the train yesterday in just this look.

It's soooo
Comfy though 🤷‍♀️

Ha this has been going on for years in London, no doubt elsewhere too. You get to wear your pyjamas out as long as you wear a nice coat. You have to spend a lot to not look cheap.

A beige lounge suit.
We used to say "beige slacks" were a marker for reaching old age.

This made me laugh. Now you mention it it's exactly the kind of outfit that used to be advertised in the back of the magazines that come with weekend papers, no? Along with slip-on shoes and bath seats.

I have the Uniqlo ones and they are super comfy but very much home clothes. I’d maybe wear on a long flight.

I got mine from Temu.

These things are the now equivalent of the black legging syndrome. They can spoil a really good shopping spree unless you want them. I was in the USA recently and sadly they were there too. It's partly Kardashian type stuff taking up too much hanger space.
As people have pointed out they spread from Primark to White Company to Loro Piana who call it the apres ski collection. Now at the top end they are beautiful cashmere items but at the bottom they are hideous. Many people wear them as they stretch regardless of what size they are. They are part of the " let me slap on some false lashes, hair extensions , plumped up lips and no one will notice I am bulging out of these" brigade. I've had these arses in my face when travelling in planes. I've seen too many camel toes on the High Street. 😉

I have a set a bit like this from Arket, beige wool and cashmere. I never wear it out of the house though, it's very much a "watching telly in the winter while eating cheese" outfit.

biedrona · 19/11/2024 10:50

it's a hard no for me

Rina66 · 19/11/2024 11:26

I tend to wear them in the house, like posh pyjamas, I don't often wear them out unless they're legging style and I can wear boots and a long gilet over them.

Never ever is the top short enough to see my bottom or any thing else, always below crotch length!
