Help find a stylish coat to gift my 25 year old DD

My DD had been buying and returning coats for the past few weeks as nothing she chooses seems to look right. She has a low budget so usually looks for coats under £60 which means she gravitates towards a lot of tat. I suggested she looks for something a bit more nearer the £150-£180 mark and I’d buy it for her but I need a few suggestions to show her please.

She’s just been through a short lived marriage and divorce and has put on a lot of weight in the aftermath so this is contributing to her low self-esteem. She’s a UK size 14. She doesn’t want anything padded that will make her look too bulky but wants something warm.

She loves my wool coats on me but thinks it’s too middle aged woman style and wouldn't suit her. She tends to wear long dresses and skirts so something that would good lol with that. She was thinking of a trench coat but is open to suggestions.

Please can I have some ideas as I’m not really good at thinking through the style eyes of 25 year old. Thanks!

A wrap coat is so flattering and pretty flexible for putting on or losing weight.
I’ve got a ted baker wrap coat in plum which ive had for about 5 years - ive lost about 2 stone since then and it still fits fine.

Lovely idea for a gift. InnBritain our outerwear is in show all the time and a great coat lifts any outfit.

How about a duffel coat, they are fashionable at the moment. Uniqlo have one and possibly Community Clothing. I don't do padded coats, as don't suit me, but have a red wool duffel and love it.

I also have a ted baker wrap coat! I’ve bought 3 one after the other over the years. She’s tried mine on but feels it’s not young and trendy and more for elegant posh ladies 🙂

It's also not the warmest. Honestly the warmest would be a long duvet/puffer coat. Get it in the most flattering colour available. If it fits well it won't make her look bigger than she is. People expect them to be puffy!

Or sezane? Lovely coats there, although maybe above budget.
Depends on her usual style, what brands/looks does she like?

Haha, yes at 50 I’m probably not the best person to comment.
Good to know I’m elegant though 😎

What about something like this? Very classic and would suit any body type I think!

I’ve got a French connection puffer coat (from tkmaxx) and it’s both v warm but nowhere near as ‘puffy’ as a lot of them. Worth a look

Have a look here - it’s specifically the outlet store where things are more affordable:

Ooh, there’s some pretty coats here. I love the colour range. Thanks! I’ll show her this.

I really like the Ryler coat, but it’s a bit over budget. Maybe in the sales…

She usually shops high street- H&M, Zara, New Look, Next as these are in her budget. She’s studying alongside a part time so doesn’t have a lot of disposable income for clothes.
