Curly hair care

My DD has very curly hair, from looking at charts online I think she's a 3B, it's beautiful but gets messy and tangled very quickly.

I have completely straight hair, not even a wave so have never had to do anything more than run a brush through it first thing in the morning

Can anyone with curls advise me how best to care for her hair? Any particular products or brushes I can use to stop it tangling up or looking like a birds nest? Should I be using a curl cream or specific shampoos/products for curls?

how old is your daughter please.
it's very much a case of trial and error, but generally brushing is a no no.
switch to a wide tooth comb.
curls can be easily taken care of don't be overwhelmed by online lists of do's and don'ts.
don't wash the hair too often, curly hair tends to be dryer than straight naturally.
be liberal with the conditioner again because it's dryer.
i shower, wet my hair, apply conditioner, rinse my hair, scrunch with the towel till not dripping, use a wide tooth comb and then curl cream almost daily.
at all times i try and avoid breaking up the little buddy curls.
i've seen many mom's dilute conditioner and put it in a spray bottle and in the am spray lightly and comb depending on how thick your dd's hair is.

If there's a hairdresser specialising in curly hair in your area it would be worth a visit to get your daughter's hair trimmed and find out how to care for it.

That can make such a difference.

I wash mine every 4th day with a curly hair shampoo. Use lots of conditioner and comb through with the conditioner still on. Rinse and apply curling cream and curling gel while still dripping. Scrunch up with a micro fibre towel and air dry WITHOUT touching it. When fully dry, scrunch up again.

Only use silk pilllow cases.
