Skinandme vs. Epiduo vs. Skin47

Random, horrendous and prolonged major flare up of cystic acne came up early Summer, got progressively worse. Massive hard, painful, bright red lumps.

I,m 43 have been using skin and me since late August and haven't seen an improvement - i know people have said it takes a very long time as they gradually increase the dose so your skin gets used to it, but after nearly 12 weeks of utterly awful skin, i have lost patience. I reverted to epiduo and in 3 days there are less lumps already and no purging (i'm guessing as the skin has built some reistance) which is good news....my question is, do i now perserve with epiduo or will skin and me come good in the end, so i should revert back and persist? The testimonials seem incredible for long term use and acheiving super clear skin.

I have also liked skin 47 in the past and it was good for what i remember and their BHA exfoiliant looks tempting! Arrgh, so hard to know which way to turn - I am just keen to hear any similar stories and what worked for others, in the end.

I got on much better with Uncouth than Skin&Me. The base formula in Skin&Me irritated my skin. Not used Epiduo but if it works I would keep at it!

It sounds like your acne responds well to the benzoyl peroxide in epiduo. It reduces the bacteria which causes acne. I would stick with what works. The epiduo also has a retinoid which is what you’d get in skin and me etc and it’s retinoids that take a number of months to have an effect on the skin. Skin and me usually add niacinamde to their formulation. Cerave night cream is oil free and non comedogenic with niacinamide so a good moisturiser to layer over the epiduo at night.
