Northern Soul night outfit help!

Help needed. I'm going to a new northern Soul night that has started up locally and I need some help finding an outfit please!
I'm thinking wide legged trousers and form fitting top or t shirt, one that doesn't ride up preferably. Trousers may be high waist or with couple of pleats? Dunno!
I have some puma trainers I'm going to be wearing which are dark green with yellow trim. I have a boxy off white jacket that I'll be wearing to and from the venue.
Me and a friend have been learning some of the moves so I want to be able to let loose on the dance floor! 😁
I'm a size 12, late thirties. Dark long hair which will probably be in a pony tail or bun.

I’d be tempted to get a tshirt or top maybe women’s Fred Perry logo one. Lots of actual Northern Soul logo T-shirts if you like that idea, just google.

By putting northern soul into google it brought up a tartan mini dress so tartan t shirt.

Can you get a fake fringe to put in your hair? All the Northern Soul fans (female) in the Wigan Casino footage seem to have a straight fringe!

High-waisted flares or parallels - tick
Fairly tight top - tick - but ideally it should have a collar in a different colour or pattern and a little V-neck
Agree about having a fringe if poss

Don't you need a black midi skirt for your spins? Worn with white ankle socks and flat black shoes. It's all so long ago, I've forgotten.. Loved the casino. ❤️ Keep the faith. ✊

I’ve just seen more tops on vintage photos of Northern Soul women dancers. They can be anything from vertical black and white stripes to plain but they seem quite fitted. Not sure if eBay or vinted would bring up Northern Soul.

Our local Northern Soul nights are very ‘anything goes’.
What you plan on wearing sounds perfect, any more might seem a bit ‘costume’ and would not be authentic.

Yeah, I'm not wanting to replicate a 'costume' ..it's not a fancy dress event. I suppose what I am thinking of does nod to northern Soul styles of dress but I just want some nice comfortable clothes that look good? I'm mostly stuck on the trousers. I don't want jeans, too heavy, I need something I can move in, but not jersey/tracksuit fabric either. I'd really like some suggestions for trousers

What type of Nsoul nite is it ?.

Not sure, just one in a local community hall, nothing fancy. I've never been to one before. I think the guy who is running it is an aficionado but I don't know any more than that really. It's all quite new to me, but I like the music and it looks fun to dance to

Hopefully it's a mix of all types of Nsoul because the genre spans more than 50 + years there are lots of facets to it.
It's been a passion of mine for 43 years,I travelled the UK going to niters for 14 years till certain aspects of Nsoul lifestyle caught up with me
