Kohl like eyeliner that is easy to sharpen or sharpener recommendations!

so every eyeliner I’ve bought recently just will not sharpen nicely. from expensive to cheap. Is it my sharpener? Is there a knack ? Once I sharpen its shit, won’t smudge nicely, and needs constant attention before I chuck it in the bin. Help pls.

I really like the Mac Kohl Pencil in Teddy shade. I had it done at a wedding and it’s really subtle compared to black.

Not cheap but the Lisa Eldridge eyeliner is good. For sharpener I recently bought the Glossier one recommended in an article I read and was really impressed, miles better than anything I had before.

Ok I have ordered a fancy sharpener! I hope it’s my crap sharpener as I have a Laura mercier eyeliner that was £22 and it just won’t bloody sharpen without bits breaking off. Looks like a similar type and price point to your lisa Eldridge one @safetyzone

When I used conventional khol pencil eye liners, I used to put them in the freezer till they were frozen, then I sharpened them. I had read about that trick somewhere I can't remember. I had varying degrees of success.
Now I use L'Oreal Infallible Gel Automatic Eyeliner.
The liner is in a thin "barrel" which emerges as you twist it up. Like a sort of roll-up pencil.
You apply it, (I do my waterline but it is also a liner for eyelids), then twist it down again. In this weather I need to warm/soften it up by rubbing the (closed) barrel between my hands for a bit.
It glides on great, and has a smudger at the other end. No need for sharpeners!

I have a basic pencil sharpener that I've had for years and it works much better than the VB sharpener I got with her eye pencils.

I like the Jones Road ones. I have the Lisa Eldridge and it’s nice, but too soft and on the greasy side, whereas the Jones Road is more of a traditional kohl liner and it stays on better. They sharpen without breaking, probably because they are a little drier.

Have you tried roll up eyeliner?
I use this and it’s great not having to worry about sharpening

I keep trying to sharpen a Clinique eyeliner but it just produces jagged bits of 'wood'. Not good.

Victoria Beckham satin kajal ones are great and come with a sharpener. They aren't wood and are easy to sharpen

I didn't like their sharpener at all, it kept breaking the lead, I used the Glossier sharpener on it and it's night and day difference.

I love the vb kohl but the sharpener was a disaster and had to be thrown away

I've never managed to sharpen a kohl pencil. Kiko Milano do a great automatic one - lots and lots of colours and very reasonably priced!

Yes, Mac Teddy is good and sharpens well. I used to love Urban Decay eyeliners but they need sharpening pretty much after every use, so work out a bit of a waste of money.

I found the VB ones areally easy to sharpen - unlike Laura Mercier, which was rubbish.

VB ones are excellent. I do have a fancy sharpener though.

Boots No 7 eye pencils are great. They are soft so don't drag.
The number of eye pencils I've had to throw away because they drag !!!
Why manufacture a sh*t eye pencil ? Sometimes I wonder do they bother to test a product re usage. 🙄
The Boots sharpener is good too.
