Can anyone recommend hair ties that don't pull the hair?

I have passed the shoulder-length hair, and by 6 pm, it starts to annoy me, and I want to tie it up. I have a few bands and scrunchies to pull it up onto a messy bun on the top of my head, but they all pull my hair. It's painful. So I'll find the tension points and pull those hairs loose, and then the whole thing will fall out. Any recommendations for scrunchies that don't hurt? I prefer these softer methods at night as I have a couch that has a part for my head to rest, so a claw wouldn't work at this point.

Have you tried the mini silk scrunchy things? No need for brand, just buy whichever,

buffyspikefaith · 02/11/2024 18:10

Second the silk scrunchies, I like the skinny ones

Britpopbaby · 02/11/2024 18:22

Yeah silk scrunchies are great. I got some pretty cheap at Aldi not so long back.

Invisibobbles are good

I have a few silk scrunchies. Are the mini ones much smaller? Sounds interesting.

Silk ones or the invisibobble curly cord style ones. Or use claw clips instead?

I have some from Flying Tiger, they're a bit like a heavy jersey.

LetsChaseTrees · 02/11/2024 22:56

Invisibobbles. They grip so you don’t need to have them tight.

I use loads of different types and brands, whatever's on the shelf when I go looking, and none of them tug, so I'm wondering if it's more to do with technique. Maybe experiment with how you're scooping up and holding the hair before tying it?

I have thin silk scrunchies but currently rocking an old velvet normal size scrunchy

They never pull on my hair

I like these for my very thick long hair, they don't pull at all. Wild & Stone | Pack of 6 | 100%... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08PPTY25S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

L. Erickson pony tail ties are very good. They don’t break hair and will keep hair in place with three turns for me, no pulling.
Silk scrunchies - brand name “ Pure Silk” have skinny scrunchies that are great for day time. I use their big scrunchies for night.

Just cut sections off the legs of an old pair of tights. Soft. Stretchy. Cheap. Best hair bands.

Oops! That company is called “Slip”.

Buckle Scrunchies and Buckle Hair Ties! They're secure and comfy, and you barely feel them. The best part is when you're done for the day, you just unbuckle the clip part so it doesn't snag! bucklescrunchie.com

I got a lecture from my hairstylist recently about my hair breakage. He told me to use the invisbobbles but warned me to buy from either a salon or pharmacy as he said some department stores or online shops have ones that are not great for your hair. I didn't find them great though so now use a hair claw if I want my hair up.
