Beginners guide to make up for an awkward teen?

Can anyone recommend a good guide to applying make up for complete beginners? That covers all the basics and is very straightforward.

My 13 year old with ASD is showing an interest and apart from the glittery nail polish unicorn stage a few years ago, she's not sure where to start, and I'm not a regular make up wearer so wouldn't where to start!

I know there's lots of stuff on YouTube but I'd like to get her a guide along with a basic brush set and make up kit for Christmas. Thanks!

Does she have the basic products already that she could experiment with? To start simple, maybe buy her a lip balm, mascara, BB cream/tinted moisturiser, single eyeshadow pen, eye liner and cream blush.

Would she consider going to beauty counters or similar shops to have one of the 30 minute makeovers? They could show her products / how to apply etc?

Or do you have any local salons that offer lessons? I know my bridal makeup artist offers 1-1 lessons, there might be similar near you?

Thank you for the reply. No all we have is the blue sparkly stuff from years past. I was thinking of getting her a basic make up kit and brushes but don't want to overwhelm her. Her ASD affects her in that she likes to encounter things on her own time so I was hoping I could get her a book and kit and then she can come to me when she's ready... nobody ever showed me how to do make up so I'm a bit lost at passing on tips 😃

Oooh great idea about the make over session though she's not good with strangers or brightly lit shops sometime and gets overwhelmed by smell so might not work
