Radley bags - are they strictly for chavs now?

because I saw one I rather liked and nearly bought it. I am a bit concerned at being mistaken for a chav though.

How can they be chavvy when they sell them in John Lewis?

Don't like them though.

Lizzylou · 26/04/2008 18:05

Not a fan, can't see what all the fuss is about tbh.

cocosquarepants · 26/04/2008 18:06

I always thought they were more middle-aged? There is a nice one being advertised in the glossys at the moment.

noddyholder · 26/04/2008 18:08

yuk!Chavtastic here in brighton

pagwatch · 26/04/2008 18:10

um - why do people think that you can't be rich and chavvy?

cocosquarepants · 26/04/2008 18:12

If you liked it why do you care what anybody else thinks?

Lizzylou · 26/04/2008 18:12

Pagwatch, very wise words.
Wags? Jordan? Kerry katona?
Not exactly classy are they?
(Do they like Radley bags, d'you think?)

droopytits · 26/04/2008 18:16

no way would they like Radley lizzy - far too cheap for them.
What I meant by the price is that if chavs who went for labels wanted a bag, they would go for lacoste, or d&g or burberry - surely the Radley name isnt trendy enough for them?

girlfrommars · 26/04/2008 18:16

Wags can afford the designer bags.

shreddies · 26/04/2008 21:29

I keep seeing an ad for this in glossy magazines and whenever I do I think

Swedes · 26/04/2008 21:35

I don't really know what a Chav is. I really like radley bags though - I use the three I have all the time.

Clairef29 · 26/04/2008 22:16

I have never ever seen a chav with a radley!! And carrying one grants you automatic friends when you bump into a fellow Radley bagger!!! Eyes light up and "OOOH you've a radley too!" blurts out!
Never seen a WAG with one either, they are far too cheap for them! (the bags not the wags!!)

unknownrebelbang · 26/04/2008 22:19

Who cares?

You either like the blardy bag, or you don't!

maidamess · 26/04/2008 22:24

I only ever see frumpy women with Radley bags. They are extremely unimaginative and dowdy.I don't see Chavs with them.

maidamess · 26/04/2008 22:24

That sounded harsh...apologies to Radley fans, but they are 'not my bag'

B1977 · 26/04/2008 22:25

I really like the designs but wish they did not all have to have a dog in them!

crackinggoodegg · 26/04/2008 22:31

Not sure about whether they're a chav thing but can't stand Radley bags - apparently they're the top selling bag brand in the UK.

What about Orla Kiely bags then? They've got a certain attraction to mothers because of their wipe clean qualities but they definitely attract a certain type of person. For those in London, a lot of Clapham mothers seem to have them.

crackinggoodegg · 26/04/2008 22:44

Oh dear, I'm a thread killer

MargaretMountford · 27/04/2008 13:20

my friend has an Orla Kiely bag - not from Clapham or a mother - they're quite arty I think...

MrsDanvers · 27/04/2008 19:04

Sorry, but I think they're frumpy bags for frumpy people. (runs and hides from flying missiles)
