Grey roots and dyed red hair

I want to dye my hair red but I'm worried about my grey roots.
Obviously due to the contrast in colour they'll show up more and my hair grows ridiculously quickly. I can't be dying my hair every 2 weeks.
I'm not fully grey, I'm a medium blonde with a kind of grey border all around my hairline.
I looked up root touch up but they seem to be a mahogany red and I don't want to go that dark.
How do people keep up their hair colour?
Any hints would be gratefully received!

I colour my roots every couple of weeks, it takes me about 15 minutes longer than a normal hair wash and I can do something like my brush my teeth, pluck my eyebrows while the colour is on (10 minutes).

MissHalloween
Are you red? What do you use to colour your roots?

Manic panic could be used every day in theory, it doesn't damage hair.

Red hair dye doesn't last the way other colours do - it starts to fade fairly quickly. So you probably won't get noticeable roots. On the minus side, you will need to re dye your whole head frequently.

Super drug do a wash in conditioner with a semi permanent dye in it for less than £3. If you use this it will refresh your colour and disguise any roots.

I definitely wouldn't do red with grey roots. It looks terrible as the roots will be shocking red and the ends darker, and more of the colour you see on the box.

Thanks Almostwelsh I didn't know about the Superdrug conditioner. I'll have a Google!
