I love Victoria’s dress tonight….anyone know where it’s from?

I wondered the same, green and white patterned shirt dress, was lovely. She doesn't post what she wears online which doesn't surprise me.

Walkingtheplank · 29/10/2024 16:42

I liked it too and it looked better on her than the model. I wouldn't have picked it from the website.

PickAChew · 29/10/2024 16:44

I didn't see the episode but that shade of green does look fab on VCM.

Tooty78 · 29/10/2024 18:57

The dress is gorgeous, but ugh the buttons are vile, but that's because I have Koumpounophobia, (fear of buttons)

MamaBobo · 29/10/2024 19:37

Thanks @Kerning, and I agree @Walkingtheplank it looked so much better on her than the model. I don’t think I’d have gone for it from the website either. Every day is a school day @Tooty78…I’ve never heard of a fear of buttons before….let alone its proper name.

@MamaBobo It's not a fear of danger from buttons in case they attack me😁 I feel sick if I see ones I deem ugly on clothes, but loose ones are the absolute worse. I don't even like to hear the sound effect of buttons being ripped off a shirt in films.

I am not alone in this though, designer Amanda Wakeley, one of the Delvigne girls and Steve Jobs has/ had Koumopounophonia.

Me too...don't even like the word & loose ones, urghhh!

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 29/10/2024 22:45

Yes looked fab on her, with lovely puff sleeves. I dont think the skirt is flattering. LK Bennett is off the boil on dresses these days.

Pickled21 · 30/10/2024 08:16

@Tooty78 my sister suffers from it too. We'd go to our local market on the weekend sometimes and she'd stay in the car if my mum needed to go to the haberdashery stall. Loose buttons for her are the worst. I purposefully choose clothes for her kids without buttons as she can't touch them.

The dress really suited Victoria but I don't love it on the model.

Busywithsomething · 30/10/2024 10:31

@Tooty78 So happy to see a fellow button disliker! I've always hated buttons but it's not a physical loathing. It's just a " why mess up what might be lovely material with hideous looking buttons" . Plus they're just a faff. Hate them. Hate shirt dresses. Can't stand them. Some formal shirts I can see why they're there but the bulk of all shirts are out for me. My rant is almost over. But what do you mean by loose buttons please? I don't follow what they are.

rc22 · 30/10/2024 10:46

Also have an aversion to loose buttons. They make me feel very sick. I can cope with buttons when they are attached to clothing but to unexpectedly come across a loose button on the floor is horrific for me!!

My nan had a button tin. I used to spend hours playing with the hundreds of loose buttons that lived in the tin. I like buttons.

WhatterySquash · 30/10/2024 11:18

God I love buttons, though I'm very sorry for button-phobics so don't read the following if you are! (Love the dress too)

I'm a sewer and have a big button collection, and I love vintage and interesting ones. Once I was heading into the city for a day out shopping by bus, and the bus went past a church with a sign on the outside saying button and haberdashery fair. I immediately jumped off and went to check it out – OMFG I was in heaven. Like a jumble sale/antiques market but for buttons. Surrounded by other crafty button-loving types, riffling through boxes of amazing and cool buttons to my hearts content. It was so surreal it was like a dream (but it was real, I still have the fabulous buttons I bought!)

FlatShoesOnly · 30/10/2024 14:33

Thank you @Kerning and @MamaBobo !

I have been wondering where this came from. What shoes/ boots would people wear with it? I can’t do heels these days … :-(

I don't mind buttons in themselves. It's when they're on clothing that I despise them. I never meant to derail the thread, it's just that I was so genuinely happy to see another person who dislikes them as much as I do.

Busywithsomething · 30/10/2024 19:08

@TheDeepLemonHelper , thanks that makes sense now. It's when they're on clothes that I find them offensive. Loose ones are fine by me.

Tooty78 · 30/10/2024 19:33

@ rc22 Why is it I can spot a loose button on the floor from miles away? Then I can't stop thinking about it and feeling sick.
The percentage of Koumpounophobics are 1 in 75,000 apparently.

This would be me! I love changing buttons on clothing, can be transformative!
I would be in heaven too.

I also have a big tin of buttons.

And also someone I worked with in the early 2000s. Didn’t know it’s proper name though.

Lovely dress ❤️

Parry5timesbeforedeath · 01/11/2024 11:48

I find the button discussion really interesting! I have a phobia of cigarettes. Cigarette butts on the ground make me vomity. I can,t look at or touch a cigarette packet or sit at a table where there is even an empty ashtray.

I like the dress also!

rc22 · 01/11/2024 21:03

@Tooty78 Although I can cope with buttons attached to clothes, I really struggle with the spare buttons that come in little plastic packs and are attached to labels. I have to close my eyes to pull them off, hold them by my fingertips at arms length and run outside to put them in the wheelie bin. Can't even cope with them being in the bin inside the house!!

@Parry5timesbeforedeath I've never heard of cigarettes causing a phobia before. My dad used to smoke and I remember long trips to the grandparents in my dad's musty old triumph car with my dad continual chain smoking and my brother and I getting more and more desperate to get out of the smog. Disgusting smell. I suppose in a way it's good that people are giving up smoking in favour of vaping. I don't seem to notice people smoking too much these days.

I've also got the phobia of punched holes. The kind of cavernous quality of them, they give me the heeby-jeebies. There's a word for it but whenever i look it up I see a picture and it makes feel so bad I can never learn the word.
