What coat should I wear with wide leg jeans

I've finally put away my skinnies and bought some wide leg jeans but the coats I usually wear (seasalt plant hunter style) don't look right with them. Can anyone suggest a coat that would look stylish for a mid 50s shortie? Thanks

I'm nearly 53 and 5'3 and have bought a couple of pairs of the M&S palazzo jeans which I love. I wear them with either a slim fit blazer for work or a single breasted tailored just below the knee wool coat, either in black, camel or grey if I'm out and about.
