Last week I complemented my neighbour on her hair and she told me she had coloured it herself, has done for donkeys. I pay about £40 every 3 months for highlights.
So, I decided to save myself a fortune and DIY a colour.
Carefully chose one from Boots, golden blonde, not too far from my natural colour.
"This product will only lighten your hair by one shade " it said.
Followed the instructions to the letter - patch test and strand test. All looked fine.
Yesterday I did the colour, timed it, did everything to the letter. When I rinsed it off and looked in the mirror it was a horrid shade of pale yellow with pink and orange thrown in.If I had been 17 year old I coulld have bluffed it out.
Kids thought it hilarious.
Snuck into town today hoping nobody would see me and confessed my sins to my hairdresser. She performed very , very expensive miracle using lots of chemicals over several hours. I almost kissed her in my gratitude.
That'll teach me to "economise".

haha-sorry for laughing! Some things you can't economise on and hair colouring is one of them!

I forgot to put on a title. See my brain has been affected by all those chemicals.

well i had a semi=permanent colour done at the hairdressers yesterday.
Colour ok but a bit dark for me.I was disappointed with the choice of colours they had on offer, more in boots tbh.
I think I'll be doing it myself next time.
It does make a huge difference if you're putting a dye onto already coloured hair I think.
