Levi's Ribcage Straight Ankle jeans - raw denim and sizing

I've just tried some on and they're gaping at the waist, a bit of a loose fit on the hips and they're longer than my ankles by about 4cm. As they're made of raw denim I'm wondering how much they'll shrink by when I wash them.

Everything I've read suggests they'll go a bit shorter, but the waist won't necessarily get smaller and that's with a hot soak and then tumble dried. What do you think - will they shrink enough to fit better or should I just return them a get a size smaller?

Just return them. IME even if they shrink in the wash they'll stretch back out again with wear.

Yeah you're probably right. That would be the best thing to do. Bugger. They're sold out in the smaller size so I'll have to wait until they're back in stock.

I hate buying jeans. There's no consistency at all in sizes between brands or even in same brand but different styles.

Agreed. I'll only buy jeans in store where I can try on for this reason.

Out of interest what size did you get for your size? I have no idea what I would be in Levi’s ribcage, just know that I’m a 12 these day

These days I'm a size 16-18 on my bottom half so I ordered a 34/29 (I'm 5'9"). The jeans were very generous in their sizing as I have size 16 jeans from M&S that are almost too small for me.

Sometimes there's no consistency even in the same style! I wear men's jeans (pockets) and I have two pairs of Levis 511s. One is 29w 32l the other is 30w 32l. They fit the same. I've tried other colours of these and sometimes the 29w were too tight and the 30w too loose.
