Thick cotton tights in orange anyone?

I've looked in all the usual places online but maybe they don't exist! I'm after some proper winter tights in cotton like the lovely ones White Stuff do (I have their teal coloured ones) but in a a burnt orange shade. All I can find that comes close are footless tights / leggings which I don't want. I found a gorgeous vintage-style brown and white patterned Motel mini skirt in a charity shop and burnt orange tights are exactly what I need to go with it! 😁Has anyone spotted any?

I saw some on a amazon, they may be nylon tho

Doggymummar · 12/10/2024 19:11

This are lovely, nylon tho but I've ordered three colours. Must stop visiting this board

I've never seen cotton tights for adults. How tall are you? If you're relatively short you might find that older children's tights fit the bill. Snag do a burnt orange colour but their tights are polyamide.

henlake7 · 12/10/2024 19:51

I doubt they are cotton but Popsy do a few orange coloured tights.

Craftycorvid · 12/10/2024 19:57

Turtledoves or a company called Pure Night? Not shopped with either of them but both advertise coloured cotton tights for women.

ConvallariaMuguet · 12/10/2024 19:59

Thought? Bamboo, but maybe the right colour.

I have some slugs and snails ones you might like - orange ones are here:

Ooh thanks @DisneyHag , I'd looked at uktights already and nothing there that fit the bill but the house of bruar ones look pretty good even if they're not cotton! I really like the colour 😊

There are a few about @OhTediosity , White Stuff do some lovely ones that are about 70% organic cotton. Bit pricey but I got some in a sale a year or two ago. I don't wear them much so they've lasted well. I'm 5'5" so I think kid's tights would be too small on me. I did look at Snag as I know theirs are good quality but they were too thin. I really want tights that are completely opaque.

They used to be easy to find - I used to get them from M&S, John Lewis, Tesco etc in mostly traditional navy/grey/black and brighter purple/burgundy type colours.

Sadly in the last few years, cotton tights have been taken over my microfibre which makes my skin crawl.

I find cotton/bamboo tights much kinder to my skin - I am prone to psoriasis.

@henlake7 Thank you! I'd completely forgotten Popsy existed! I nearly bought their beautiful northern lights dress a few years ago but it was always out of stock and then I just stopped looking. Their 160 denier orange tights look great, maybe I can drop the cotton specification... 🤔

Specialist hosiery retailers online like FALKE, Wolford, Calzedonia?

Those are lovely @ConvallariaMuguet - but they only have them in extra small! Unfortunately that isn't me! I'll have to keep an eye on them to to see if they get my size back in stock.

Thanks @Craftycorvid , couldn't find any orange ones but they do some other nice stuff 😊

@Rosemarypots those are lovely! Have you any idea what they're made of? It doesn't say on the page 🤔

Rosemarypots · 12/10/2024 21:00

@WordInYourShellLike they are quite thick cotton. Just looked them up and it says this:

•	84% GOTS Certified organic cotton
•	12% polyamide
•	4% elastane
Rosemarypots · 12/10/2024 21:01

Just to add, I reckon they're probably a bit brighter than burnt orange

TodayThisName · 12/10/2024 21:04

I'm not able to help (sorry!) but I'd love to know where you found cotton footless tights (not leggings), if you did see any? I've been looking for some new ones.

Thanks @SleepPrettyDarling , I checked them all out, nothing that quite fits the bill. I had no idea you could pay £200 for a pair of tights though (Wolford) but they were pretty impressive! 😮

@Rosemarypots Thank you, they really are lovely, as bright as they are! And 84% organic cotton is really good, better than the White Stuff tights. They look good quality too.

I think they were mainly from dance wear websites @TodayThisName , there were definitely a few cotton ones showing up when I googled but I didn't look more closely because I couldn't see any in orange!

@ghislaine Thanks for taking on the assignment! I like those Mistral ones, they are a nice shade although as you say, a bit more on the yellow side of orange 😄The weird fish tight look good too but they are definitely yellow, a very lovely shade of yellow though!

John Lewis and M&S age 14 are both aimed at height 165cm. Might be worth a look.
