Sports gear for plus size that's not a fortune

Enko · 11/10/2024 22:42

I've been getting back to the gym but old gear doesn't fit well. I am now a 16-18. I loathe cropped toops and don't like normal t shirts for the gym.

However wow sports gear has gone up in price. Is there any good quality brands that doesn't want 50+ for a top?

I've tried to max but not found anything. While I'm ok with vinted and 2nd hand I'm not for sports gear so please do you suggest that.

Curvissa sells sports wear in larger sizes
Matalan is also good

Enko · 11/10/2024 23:06

No matalan near me.. I cant see any sports tops on curviest? Leggings joggers and tracksuits. Then lots of tops but nothing specific sports related?

Tesco athletic gear is fabulous. Beautiful materials and cut like Sweaty Betty.

outforawalkbiatch · 11/10/2024 23:36

Next had a decent selection

For leggings I wear these, usually whatever is in the sale

Oh and M&S goodmove leggings have good reviews although I haven't tried them

Enko · 11/10/2024 23:43

Leggings I'm ok with just the tops that create a issue. I do not have the body for a crop top and likely even if I did i wouldn't wear them not my sort of thing. Nor do I like oversized stuff.

Adidas and Nike both have plus size or 'curve' ranges. They will be more expensive than supermarkets but not ridiculously so.

Primark also has some nice co-ord gym sets.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/10/2024 06:05

M&S Goodmove range is good and goes up to a size 24.

I second this, you have to keep checking as larger sizes tend to sell out fast.

Patienceinshortsupply · 12/10/2024 07:05

Another saying M & S Goodmove. I've got 2 pairs of leggings I've had for about 5 years and they're still as good as new. The t shirts are a good length, so I've got a few of those as well.

helpfulperson · 12/10/2024 07:07

decathlon has a good selection

MoneyAndPercentages · 12/10/2024 07:08

I'm obsessed with the H&M move collection. I've tried ALL the expensive versions at this point (Nike Plus/Sweaty Betty/Lulemon/UA etc) as well as most 'budget' options but H&M are the ones that consistently come through for me (I started buying about a year ago, still wear everything I've brought from them regularly. NO LEGGING SPLITS 😂)

Nike tops seem okay too (my leggings from there always split though!)

tappitytaptap · 12/10/2024 07:11

Decathlon, H&M, Sainsbury's, and Nike / Adidas / Puma outlet stores are great.

ShamedBySiri · 12/10/2024 07:41

Under Armour has some nice items.
These tops are in the sale and quite reasonable.

Primark

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/10/2024 20:04

Decathlon sizes are on the small side.

Yes, definitely something to watch out for.

Rowgtfc72 · 12/10/2024 22:02

Second tesco. I'm 18- 20 and have no problems buying things. Plenty of non black and actually fits really well.

Dancingfairydreams · 12/10/2024 22:07

I got some nice bits from Yours, they do loads of long line tops. Very reasonably priced too.

Enko · 13/10/2024 00:28

Thank you everyone. I won't touch primark yours or Shein (or Temu) so that is out. I know many loves them. Just not for me. I don't have a large Tesco nearby but next time I am in one I will have a look.

I Do have both M&S and Next and will look in both for sure. Not got a Dechatlon near by and unlikely to go near one. I prefer to see stuff first before I buy from them. Will also have a look there if I ever get near one.good to know re sizes.

I have a maternity workout top from Lidl that was perfect for when I was bigger (16ish) but not pregnant. it was brilliant. It was slightly longer than a normal top and didn’t look like a maternity one. For ages afterwards I kept an eye out to see if I could buy another one but never found it. I still like it, as I find “normal” workout tops all too short!

I’ve looked on eBay/ vinted as I want to buy some more and found the same one I’ve already got.
