I need a consensus on summer bags - is light brown a good or bad colour?

I have bought a bag, and I really like the style, but I can't decide whether it's summery enough. It's a sort of lighht brown/beigey colour.

Summery or not? What colour are your summer bags?

I was put off light brown leather in general when, years ago, a good friend described my new tan coloured boots as "reminding her of dog shit".

May just be me though

hate beige, summer of winter

i have just bought an orange bag but it's for all seasons

can't be arsed wtih poncey changing round cushions, bags etc

do have sandals for summer but really my life doesn't change that much during the summer months

bundle · 23/04/2008 11:35

what about one of these

castille · 23/04/2008 11:41

Nice, but too big.

That's my problem - I don't want a massive bag whatever fashion says. Nor a teeny one.

I just need one nice go-anywhere bag that goes with everything. So not orange, really. My other bags are black and chocolate brown, very wintry. And the only one I've found is this beigey brown one. It's not dog shit colour, honest.

why not orange? since having a brightly coloured bag, i find it actually goes with most things.

what about green? green goes with everything
(think leaves on flowers)

also look on rest of reddirect website, they have a reduced section, with lots of smaller handbags

bundle · 23/04/2008 11:49

or this one in pale blue?

castille · 23/04/2008 11:51

true, maybe I'm lacking imagination! Not orange though. Green maybe.

i have hoxtonchick to thank for opening my minds to bright bags

then -

you build a whole new outfit round it!

i haven't ordered any red direct stuff but they always look pretty good. another excellent place is txmaxx, if you're prepared to root around amongst the dross...

castille · 23/04/2008 11:59

I like your thinking

My SIL had a terrible experience with Red Direct, but I'm prepared to give it a try for a lovely bag

No access to TKMaxx I live in France where there are heaps of posh and not-so-posh bag shops but no bags I like

i'd imagine the french like either v fancy or v plain bags - nothing much inbetween

good luck with red - the pale blue looks gorgeous (if a little diff to the brown and black versions..)

castille · 23/04/2008 12:03

exactly that

emailing Red for delivery charges - probably astronomical...!
