dd is 12. She has size 4.5 -5 feet, but they are very broad. We have a family history of crap feet - bunions and so on, so I have always been very strict about shoes for her.

"Everyone" in her form wears ballet type pumps to school, but I really don't want her to - I want her to have shoes she doesn't have to scrunch her toes up to keep on, and that she can run for the bus in without them flying off. She has a a pair of really nice pumps she wears at the weekend when she's out with her friends. But she really doesn't want to wear "school" shoes any more. these] are what she's wearing at the moment, and she "hates" them. Any ideas?

It gets harder as they get older, Notabanana. My DD1 doesn't even WANT shoes with heels, great big horrid clumpy things, but that is what seems to be on offer for the older girls in Clarks. I had to drag three children on an hour's train ride last week to find suitable shoes for DD1.

I hate shoe shopping with DD who is almost 14! She point blank refuses to wear shoes that resemble Clarks, Startrite etc. Will only wear shoes that come out of shoezone The way I look at it is, I buy her a new pair of cheap shoes every 6 wks. She knows I will not tolerate ballet pumps or really flat or high heels. Fingers crossed meeting her half way seems to be working and if I let her have shoes from shoezone then she tends to go for quite sensible ones! The pair she has at the moment are flat black loafers.
