Dr Martens 2976 chelsea boots - sizing?

I've just received these in a 41 and I don't know whether to swap for a 40 (DM says the former is 7 and the latter is 6.5).

I'm usually 6.5 or 7 depending on brand but these look pretty clunky on, and my feet are definitely moving around in them a bit. If a 40 is likely to give a bit with wear, then I think they'd be better. Has anyone found this style has relaxed/given over time?

I've recently bought the 2976 high and am currently wearing them around the house to break them in. I bought size 6 which is my usual size (sometimes 5 1/2 in M&S) and there is plenty of room for thick socks, but they're not loose and I would say are true to size. They are definitely softening a bit (they were a bugger to get on at first being high), but I wouldn't say they are getting bigger.

Thank you @DietrichandDiMaggio! Do you have the 39 or the 40?

I'd try a 6.5/ 40. There seems to be a full size difference between the 6.5 and 7 in Dr Martens.

I think I probably should @Mairzydotes, but annoyingly the offer I bought them with is no longer on! Off to try and find them discounted, and with speedy delivery, elsewhere...

I got UK6, so 39. It’s interesting that they don’t do most half sizes, only 6 1/2, which as you say is 40, so a full size up.
