I'm not sure you can trust Vinted feedback

I've probably just been very unlucky, but out of 4 recent Vinted purchases, 3 have had issues.

I bought a top, last day seller was supposed to deliver by I get a message saying they can't find it, must have given it away, sale cancelled.

Bought another top, fair enough response fast on this one, seller had sold elsewhere and forgot to remove from vinted, sale cancelled.

I bought some jeans, seller doesn't post until very last day they're supposed to have sent by. A few days later jeans still haven't arrived, I get a message from seller saying there's been a mix up, sent me the wrong item. Incorrect package finally arrives but I have to return this to get a refund. A week later I get a message from Inpost saying three failed delivery attempts so being sent back to me. Thankfully they must have tried a 4th time as return finally accepted.

All three sellers have 5 stars, because sale cancelled I can't give any feedback. I thought if the seller cancelled a sale it gave them automatic 1 star, but this doesn't appear to have happened in these three cases (I checked).

So now I think you can't trust the seller's feedback as to whether they're actually going to send you what you've bought, only whether successfully delivered items are as described.

At least the 4th item I ordered was great, sat here wearing it now!

I’ve only bought once on Vinted. Although I did receive my purchase more or less on time, I was taken aback by the seller’s first message that she had to try to remember where she had put it!

My last cancelled item gave an automatic one star review, only a couple of weeks ago so its working for me.

I’ve bought maybe 20 items off there and only had an issue with one of them. I’ll only buy from someone with many top reviews but the dress I received from one such seller was completely at odds with her reviews - it was only in fair condition rather than very good - covered in bobbles, out of shape, covered in cat fur, and reaked badly of cigarettes. It cost about £5 but I couldn’t be bothered arguing about it as it was about one of the first things I ever bought, but I wouldn’t let it slide now. The dress went in the bin.

Ive sold quite a few things and everyone has been happy but I am very honest about condition and photograph any flaws etc.

EBay has now waived all private seller fees I think I heard so I may switch back to there as it’s more professional. I also find that Vinted sellers, overall, take very poor photos compared to eBay sellers - it’s like it’s a marathon to add a bulk number of listings and sod the quality of the photos and descriptions.

Hmm I’m not sure - I recently (for the first time) had to message someone and apologise I couldn’t find the item, must have given to charity (had been listed on vinted for ages without selling). I cancelled the sale and I have indeed got automatic negative feedback for the transaction although it might have taken a day or two to show up.

Interesting, maybe the automatic feedback just hasn't had time to show yet. It has really put me off using vinted again, the last issue in particular was a right hassle having to sort packaging, pay for parking and use my 30 minute lunch break to return a package due to sellers mistake.

My Dd sells on vinted and always double checks everything before selling and shipping.

I once had to cancel and item because I couldn’t find it, was mortified, so that can happen.

However, if I sent the buyer a wrong item I would send them a return postage label so they wouldn’t have to pay, as totally my mistake, so that does sound like a bad seller/or possible scammer.

I think you have been a bit unlucky but good idea to always check feedback, and how many items sold/listed - I am always abut dubious about new sellers unfortunately.
