I tried this dress on the other day in fatface
I would wear as a casual dress with tights and boots. I sized down as it was generous. I love the print and it is very flattering but I can't quite get over the excess material under the arms. Like bingo wings
I'm short bodied so thought it might be me but its the same on the model. I've noticed this on other new in dresses. Do I need to accept its the style and get over my self?

I'm 73, I love it, I have a very similar one in a similar colour scheme. I've also ya red and black one, with big sleeves at the wrist, which I'm going to put elastic round. I've worn them in the summer, and will go the thick tights boots route. I'm 5.1, so I have shortened them.

No you don’t need to accept it’s the style, you can find other dresses.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/10/2024 08:52

I bought a similar one and have chopped off half of the arms and hemmed them so they’re loose rather than puffed. I like it much better now.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 05/10/2024 09:35

It doesn't look like bingo wings.

Not sure I get it....do you just mean blouson sleeves?
If you dont like them then dont buy the dress. Personally I love the dress and I love blouson sleeves!
I have several like this, perfect for getting that floaty, boho vibe (but also practical when you have to push your sleeves up and do the washing up!).

I don't get it either. I looked on the website. It's a normal blouson sleeve. Nice dress.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 05/10/2024 09:47

I love the print, the cut from the waist down and the pockets
It's not the sleeves. I was wrong to describe it as bingo wings. Its excess material where a roll of fat would be at the side band of your bra. I think it's to create a slightly blouson effect
I love everything but unsure of that
I'll give it another try on

If the excess is in the bodice it sounds as if the dress may be too big. Try the next size down.

Or try a different brand with different cutting, like these, for instance:

Justine Tabak

Hill House Home

I saw this dress the other day and loved it too. Didn't try on though but I might order it now 😂🙄

theemptinessmachine · 05/10/2024 11:54

Do you mean the bit at the right above the waist on this photo?

Well you would hope that dresses that cost 200 - 300 pounds would fit better but there's no guarantee. I don't think these are comparable.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 05/10/2024 12:10

Yes, that bit

Yes, that bit

A seamstress could open up that seam and remodel that section to be less loose, it shouldn't cost too much.
