Why did I not know that Phase 8 is a lovely lovely shop?

I have gone completely mad in there today.
Dh will be freaking when he goes online to check bank account tonight.

Come on, what did you buy? Links please.

(I always thought they were a bit dull and wouldn't have had you down as a Phase 8 wearer...)

moondog · 22/04/2008 16:49

It was Cheshire Oaks so all reduced.
I bought a skirt suit in black and one in red (and one for my sister)
Two pairs of lineny trousers
Two blouses
One cardigan

It seemed dull through window but there was some nice stuff, really nicely made and the assistants were uterrly lovely.

Maybe more worky type stuff perhaps?

MrsMattie · 22/04/2008 16:50

I like Phase 8 for dresses - classic, well cut for the price, nice fabrics. Their merchandising is dull - ie. the way they put outfits together in window/on mannequins - but the individual pieces are very nice.

moondog · 22/04/2008 16:51

Bottom left hand jacket in red and black with matching flared knee length skirt.

Yes, deffo worky stuff.
I went to Gap next to get regular gear.

Actually that's ok for work isn't it. Like the Dorothy one too.

moondog · 22/04/2008 16:55

I didn't see any jewellery.
Lots of really nice fitted Jackie O style dresses with jackets but then a strange maverick slightly hippy/bohemian bent which suits me being mad old lentil weaver sort with occasional penchant for snappy suits.

I do like Phase Eight - as Mrs Mattie says, they don't do themselves any favours with the way its presented, but great quality.

I have an evening dress from there (black, tapework, short sleeves, slash neck) that i have worn and worn as its so flattering, easy to wear, and packs fantastically.

I can see Camilla in the Victoria and Elizabeth numbers.

I have a gorgeous 50s style prom dress from Phase 8. It's thick, black lace with a rose-pink silk slip underneath and a big silky sash around the waist. Very swishy and sexy. Makes my lumpy bumpy figure look like the perfect hourglass.
A random bloke at a wedding told DH (not knowing he was my husband) that I looked like 'a modern day Rita Hayworth; in it. DH had to google Rita Hayworth before he finally grinned a lot

moondog · 22/04/2008 16:59

How ace.
I would find an excuse to where it everywhere.

Customer service is shocking though. I bought something in the Phase Eight in Kingston (in the Bentalls Centre) and tried to take it back to another branch and they refused. Said it had to go back to the exact branch and it could not be posted so had to make a three hour round trip back to Kingston.

Not really a redhead - brunette with auburn-ish tinge to my hair, I'd say. I'm sure the bloke was pissed as a newt

Monkeybird · 22/04/2008 17:06

Moondog, you are an utter MN mystery to me. From your posts , I have ascertained that you are a privately educated, Torygraph reading, radical breastfeeding take-no-prisoners lentil weaver! And you wear Phase 8 clothes (now).

And I like it.

moondog · 22/04/2008 17:08

Mb, that is me to a tee.
Very flattered you deem me worth stalking.

After an anguished search for an outfit for ds's wedding last year I happened upon Phase Eight, bless them. I needed Mumsiness, being mother of the groom .

What I really liked was that they had different styles in the same fabric. I tried on a suit which I loved, except the skirt made me look fat(ter) But they had a slightly different cut of skirt which was far better, so I was a happy bunny.

We have a Phase Eight in our High Street. The staff are absolutely gorgeous - they regularly entertain my little ones while I try things on. I bought a lovely velvet dress in there just before Christmas and regularly buy bits of jewellery and the odd top.
