Help ...What shall I wear to the races ??

I'm off to Goodwood with a group of ladies I don't know (dont ask long story ....) and I dont know what to wear .....

Invite just says 'dress suitable for blah blah ....

I dont want to be all frocked up but equally I dont want to look like I've not made an effort.

What would you wear ?

I haven't been to Goodwood for a few years, but it was always more conservative than Ascot. Trouser suit or tea dress and nice cardie would be fine.

don't try too hard
flat shoes or wedges
absolutely no hats
nice dress or skirt top jacket combo
may \i repeat don't try too hard
