...any recommended shops

Am thinking Topshop, maybe Formes

Also need to know where the shop is so I can plan my route....

Also would love to get a facial done, first thing in morning.

Got a ball in evening so can't look to rosy!

Try New Look,

I went in there a few days ago and they have some really nice stuff, theres also a sale on at the moment so I got a lovely pair of maternity pants for £8, grey comabats they are but more 'formal ones, also got a pair of jeans for £12!

My sister went to the bigger one in Manchester and got me a gorgeous silk top for £3 down from £20!

Also H&M, they always have great maternity clothes.

Disenchanted · 22/04/2008 12:34

'comabats?!

lol, combats!

MissingMyHeels · 22/04/2008 12:34

Gap - Marble Arch end of Oxford Street, near the big Primark.

MissingMyHeels · 22/04/2008 12:36

My gym has a salon in and they do really good Dermalogica facials as well as the BEST waxing in the world.

Just off of Oxford St, link here.

Flum · 22/04/2008 12:39

Oooh Gap, didn't know they did them.

Am middl4e aged now so can't go for anything too racy but want one or two really lovely things to keep my appeal going if you know what I mean other wise my DH is of the mentality that 'his work here is done' for the duration.

Got loads of left overs from last pregnancies but you know some are 5 yrs out of date, and the others 2 yrs.... so can't rely on them.

Right so: Oxford St from Marble Arch walking towards the east:

Gap
H&M
New Look
Top Shop

Then maybe bus to Covent Garden for Formes? Bit pricey in there though might not bother going there if have found stuff.

LOL @ combats in general - its not 2002 anymore!

Flum · 22/04/2008 12:45

Yeah not sure could pull off (not that way) combats these days.

Oooh MissingMyHeels. Have called them. They will call back if have a space.

had a Dermalogica Facial as a wedding present from my best mate somewhere in Kensington - It was AMAZINGly relaxing.

There's a Formes at the bottom of South Molton Street (can't remember exact street it's on) but it's only a 5 minute walk from Oxford Street.....also Zara on Regent street has some maternity stuff I believe......

How pg are you? I am trying to get you out of the west end by lunchtime - nothing worse IMHO than shopping in London on a Saturday afternoon when you actually NEED to buy something rather than browsing.......
Top Shop will be jammed packed if you get there any later than about 11 I would have thought.
Give JL, Selfridges, HoF and Debenhams a shout too - they can have nice maternity stuff but I'd give them a ring to see how much stuff they have in stock.

Flum · 22/04/2008 13:06

anymore ideas?

Ohnot very, only 14 weeks but third so already a bit portly.

might go for early shopping followed by healthy mcdonalds lunch (we don't have one where I live - so this is an annual treat for me), then maybe a facial at 1pm. Back to mats house for a kip from 3-5pm, then get glammed up for the ball.

Should be meeting mates for lunch, but they will all have their kids and I won't have mins, so might just enjoy the solitary peace of being alone amongst £6m urban monkeys....

For middle aged appropriate clothes I'd get to Next then. I had a fab pair of black wide leg trousers when pg with ds2 and they just wore and wore. You need a massive branch though otherwise you have to order it from the directory. Also had skirt from H&M, tops from New Look, check out Red Herring (its in our Debenhams) some of their stuff is 'high fashion' but I got an incredibly gorgeous black wrap maternity dress for about £30. Between that and the trousers I was sorted.
Dorothy Perkins do some mat wear but its usually really awful!

MrsBadger · 22/04/2008 13:24

check H&M Ox Circ do maternity - last year they didn't and I had to go to High St Ken. Was def worth it though

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 22/04/2008 13:27

I think H&M covent Garden do maternity wear, but it was a while ago so they may not anymore.

Zara by oxford circus is great too.

MissingMyHeels · 22/04/2008 14:10

H&M near Marble Arch is the one that has mat stuff now I think.

If you're not already having your hair done my favourite thing to do when I was pregnant was go to the Blow Dry bar in Topshop - it's quick and not too expensive and used to make me feel a million dollars! If you don't manage to book a facial could be a nice alternative.

Mamas and Papas on Argyll Street is worth a visit.
