Hi there
I’ve just noticed this patch of bleach stain on my new grey jeans 🙁. Are they done for?

Update. Washed and dried and now looks like this. Wondering whether to bite the bullet and get the grey dye? @dudsville do you know the name or number of the colour please?

OP, l’m sorry attempts to sort have not been successful. I’ve been victim of a “bleach blob” myself. I bought a small embroidered flower and stitched it on. It was a top rather than jeans, but someone actually commented positively on the random flower. The bleach secret stayed with me.

Thank you all. That’s kind of what I thought then i saw some nonsense on the internet about alcohol releasing colour into it but i don’t have any. Is it that bad do you think? I know it is difficult to tell from the pic but it’s probably not as big as I think.

its not that bad op. The grey carries a white patch quite well . I’d honestly have assumed it was aging effect if I’d seen you in them.

Get a silver grey sharpie from this pack, test on a bit of old cloth, you need to carefully draw in along the threads, and let it bleed. If needed do a second coat, but I think you'll find you'll be able to blend in well. www.viking-direct.co.uk/en/sharpie-mystic-gems-2157681-permanent-marker-fine-1mm-multicolour-not-refillable-p-1201354

I have a pool which needs chlorine, so I am the master of bleaching myself sadly.

I usually always just fill the spot in with a permanent marker. It will appear darker in that spot at first, but it fades with each wash. It isn't really permanent. So you will need to do it again at some point.

But, that area of fabric will wear more and will eventually go to a hole. But you will be able to get loads of wear out of your jeans before then.

Grey sharpie?

dudsville · 30/09/2024 13:07

I think they call it dove grey, you can get it from amazon.

Personally I'd buy a fabric pen or sharpie in the lightest grey they do, just to make it less stark. I wouldn't use a shade darker than the jeans as I think that would make it more noticeable.

Were the jeans expensive ? I would buy another pair exactly the same if I loved them and keep the other pair for cleaning, wearing with a long jumper etc.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 02/10/2024 00:26

Thank you! They were just M&S ones so not really expensive. I’ve ordered this

Thank you. I’ll give it a go. Nothing to lose. DH did the same to his fave shirt and he still wears it but it’s at the back. It’s really annoying. I usually do the bathroom in trackies or leggings but we’d gone out to see family earlier so I kept my ‘nice’ clothes on. It never happens to my old tracksuit bottoms 🙄😆. These are the first jeans I got since I lost weight as well. Thank you all

If you're using bleach, clean your bathroom naked. It's the only way!

RandomMess · 04/10/2024 13:41

I found sharpie over bleach stains did fade over time/washes so eventually you will need to colour over it again I suspect.

😂 when I had a walk in shower cubicle I used to lol. I think this is more toilet cleaner than the bathroom cleaner as I don’t use bleach.

That’s fine as I think it might look too dark atm
