Wide legged jeans for short-arses

I've been living in straight leg jeans for a few years now. I got a couple of cropped high waisted wide legged jeans from charity shops last summer and enjoyed wearing them for the fun factor even though my DH loathed them. But I've now returned them to Save The Children because they have definitely had their moment and everyone seems to be wearing wide legged floor length jeans.

So: wide legged, full length, ideally high waisted jeans for a size 12, 5'4" middle aged woman. Can anyone recommend any good ones that don't cost an arm and a leg please? I'll probably spend up to 50 quid, 100 absolute tops, but would be equally interested to see more expensive ones to get an idea of styles. And what colours are you all wearing?

Oooh, I'm going to follow this thread as I'm a fellow short-arse looking for wide leg jean advice!

I've had lots of compliments on these but sadly in the sale! You might find some in store? They do shorter ones but I found the regular are fine with trainers (I'm 5 5)

When people say short I assume they mean five foot or less. 5 foot 4 is a perfectly ordinary height - doesn’t even qualify for petite clothing.

Some of these might be worth trying, in the spirit of exploration. I can’t specifically vouch for the jeans but they’re brands that I (5’3 and well beyond middle age) like or wear.

PS - if too long in the leg, rather than waist, just take to your local alterations service.

I got mine in Sainsburys, I am 5ft 4 but with short legs so I got a short.
Perfect length, can wear trainers but also a small heel with them

Ha ha, i'm proper short (under 5 ft) I look like one of those kids toys you press down & they pop up. Except I can no longer 'pop'

Yes at 5'3"-5'5" is the short end of normal, rather than proper short. Where we can just about get away with wide legged jeans but need to be careful about styling, and fall into the irritating gap between standard and petite.

My Halara ones are gorgeous and super stretchy! I think they're usually £49 but there's usually deals for a first purchase and currently £32. Check their insta for deals. They do petite too btw!

I rely on platform loafers and platform mules. I am 5'5" so not tiny but am also quite wide. So the extra height does improve overall balance/silhouette. The shoes can barely be seen under the long hems.

I know fashion would dictate pointy-toed flats or kitten heels to go with these jeans but needs must ...

Have you tried Pixie Girl? They're a petite brand and their jeans are great but usually still a little too long on me (I'm 5'1") so at 5'4" they'd probably be a perfect length!
