3rd lobe piercings suddenly sore after 2 months

The curated ear thread popping up again has made me post in here, thinking I might get more pragmatic advice rather than people telling me I need to remove them immediately if i post in health 😬

Had my lobes pierced for 3rd time about 2 months ago. Defo lobe rather than encroaching on cartilage bit.

Healing was a dream until 2 days ago when they both started to feel a bit tender and look a bit gunky. Took them out yesterday and gave it all a good clean with salt water.

Both went back in fine apart from the usual minor youchy feeling first time you put them back in.

Bit of dried blood this morning on both which I expected. Still a bit tender but nowhere near as much as yesterday morning.

Can this be normal? I have one pal saying yep, totally normal. 2 month gunk build up has irritated them as they will still be healing., especially as im a side sleeper. Other pal saying no, not normal at all, take them out immediately 😫

Google very conflicting advice too so just wondering if any real life experiences from anyone on here ☺️

My 3rd lobe piercing was a bugger..much trickier than others to heal including my nose piercing!

I just kept bathing it with cooled salt water and eventually it sorted itself out. Had it done about 3 years ago now and have no bother with it these days.

Ah thankyou! It's weird isn't it I don't remember my helix giving me this grief and i was warned that would prob be a nightmare 😩

Just realised I did stop the Neilmed probably a bit too soon as it was going so well so will go back to using that for a while.

It's already much better than it was just this morning so guessing it was the gunk build up 😳

Have you been swimming or to a spa recently? My second loves were like this, absolutely fine for about 3 months and then I went on a spa day and the next day they were sore like you describe. I just treated them like they were new again with the saline spray, titanium jewellery and mostly leaving them alone. They settled down again fine and haven’t been any trouble since.

No spa day or swimming, just really random!

Funny you mention titanium, thats what my friend suggested, swap these surgical steel ones for titanium. Now I think back 30 years I THINK my second ones might have given me a bit of grief until I put silver earrings in so bet I'm having a bit of a reaction 🤔
