Has anyone gone back to virgin brown hair from blonde?

I've been getting blonde highlights for about 15 years.

I'm fed up of the time/money/damage to hair and the fact I don't think it even looks good, especially after the first couple of weeks.

I'm just growing it out (rather than dying it all brown in one go) and it currently looks like a balayage. the "virgin" hair is so silky and smooth but is a very boring brown colour...

I'm planning to just keep cutting the blonde off the bottom as my hair gets longer.

Anyone done similar?

Were you happy with your virgin hair or did you end up going back to the bleach?

I guess it's similar to those who are "embracing the grey"

What is virgin brown hair?

What is virgin brown hair?

Natural, untreated, uncoloured hair - as it grows from the scalp.

It'll be fine, OP. Get regular , decent cuts and you'll feel better - and the shine of untreated hair will come through soon enough.

I'm doing this at the moment. Pregnancy ruined my hair, it was falling out in clumps so I'm trying to do absolutely nothing to it.

It was fine for the first few months but I'm past the balayage phase now. The bit where it changes colour is level with my ears. I wasn't platinum blonde or anything so it's not like a straight line around my head, but I do think it's noticeable.

I'm trying to stick with it though, planning to get it cut next week to just above my shoulders and then there's not that much left to grow out.

My natural colour is a very mousey brown. I don't love it but I don't hate it like I thought I would, and it feels so much healthier. Also trying to only use heat on it once a week.

Thanks girls.

This is what they don't tell you when you first get your hair coloured at age 18 or whatever. That you're fucking stuck colouring it forever or spending 2-3-4 years growing it all out again. It's a fucking conspiracy.

Doubtless I'll start going grey (I'm 41) and end up at the mercy of the hairdresser again.

Yeah I would have been more likely to go back to my natural hair colour sooner if it wasn't such a boring mousey brown :-( I'm thinking in future I might jazz it up with clip in hair extensions or something.

Just fucking sick of having brassy straw like hair.

I reckon healthy, natural hair is the future.

Colour it a brighter brown? But you'll want blond again after a few months. Guaranteed.

Ahhhh I am about to do this too!!

I used to have beautiful long thick hair and then I started bleaching it every 3 months. 5 years later my hair has halved in thickness and so much breaks off when I brush it. So I'm boycotting the bleach!

We can all do this together!
