I'm looking for good quality basics like plain long sleeve T shirts and thin knit turtle necks for layering. I usually go to uniqlo but the colour selection is a little limited. I'm not a huge fan of M&S. Let me know what your recommended brands and essential pieces are!

Zara is my got to. Love their basic tops, vests, t shirts, shirts and jumpers. Price is usually very good too.
I did used to get a lot from Ted baker but well they going under and the clothing hasn't been as good the last few years while the prices were going up!

Did you just read the thread title and not the OP, @Lovethatforyouhun? Grin

@Isthistheplace21 you can get good quality 100% cotton long sleeved t shirts from Community Clothing.

Replacing the wonderful thermal roll neck tops is a bit trickier; places like

Toast
Plümo
American Vintage

often have layering pieces like that, but a bit more fashion-y rather than totally basic. Otherwise - you should be able to find them at travel / sport / hiking / camping/ general outdoor wear shops like

Patagonia
Fjällräven
Rohan

though I haven’t checked their current stock.

I find Baukjen quite good for work basics.

@HotXHun yes but i have adhd and the first and last part were the only two bits that registered. Not sure where camping comes i to the op either hun. 😬
That said M&S has upped its game so worth a second look imho.

Max Mara for coats
For basics Peserico (tricky to source in UK), Falconeri, Aspesi
For silk and evening / striking outfits, Vince and L'agence
