I wasn't sure which topic to put this under so apologies if it isn't in the right place but hopefully you will be able to help me.

My 4 year old daughter has very fine hair shoulder length hair. No matter what I do, she always looks like she has been dragged through a hedge backwards after an hour. Her hair just seems to have a mind of its own, all hairstyles fall out, baby hairs stand up on end and she then gets frustrated as it goes in her face and annoys her. Hair clips are put in every day and they all fall out as her hair is quite slippery. She loves plaits but again, they all loosen and look messy in a short period of time.

I am looking for recommendations of gentle products I can use that won't leave a sticky residue or smell of men's aftershave (I did try using her dads hair stuff this morning in a vain attempt to keep her looking tidy for her first day of school but it had quite a strong manly smell about it), but give good grip for hairstyles and hopefully help keep the hair out of her face.

I would love to get some advice too! No idea what to use on her hair. I heard buying an adult product of some sort, diluting with water and putting in a spray bottle works well, but need more details on that!

Sympathies OP. I have no recommendations. 2 of mine had hair like this. I used to dread school photo day knowing that by the time their turn came around they would likely look like scarecrows despite my best efforts and gallons of ultra strength hairspray.

If it's any consolation both those children now have the most glorious heads of thick, glossy hair that hangs beautifully and looks great with minimal effort. It just took a few years!

I've tried using xtra hold hairspray over the past 2 weeks but to no avail.
It seems there's a real gap in the market for young girls hairstyling products without over powering smells or harsh chemicals...
