Wise mumsnetters I am thinking about having my facial and leg thread veins removes. Can you share how you found the treatments - did they work? Is there much difference between going to one of ths vein clinics or is there any difference going go a dermatologist. Also does it hurt? Thank you!

I had my facial veins lasered last month. I was surprised how effective it was. I've heard they come back quickly but even I did it a couple of times a year I'd be ok with that.

I had mine done around my nose and chin at an aesthetic clinic - its a 1 woman show and shes a part time paediatrician nurse in Children’s A+E with a very good reputation.
It didnt hurt, removed the bigger veins and they haven’t returned yet (2 years later). She couldn't do the really fine ones because they were too small. I might go back and have those done now they’re a bit bigger. I think I paid about £90.

I've had veins removed on my face, chest area and legs. I got laser treatment and it was really successful on my face and chest. I do think it needs done again a few years later on my chest area. I got it done just in a high street laser clinic and it wasn't too expensive.
My legs on the other hand are awful and I just don't think anything works for leg veins. I've had repeated courses of laser treatment-total waste of money as they didn't budge. I've also had sclerotherapy at a private hospital. This is where an irritant potassium solution is injected into each thread vein and it should cause the vein to collapse due to the irritation. It didn't work, was sore and itchy, I had to wear compression stockings for ages afterwards and it possibly made it worse (iron deposits). I've accepted nothing can be done and I wear fake tan and Sally Hansen leg make up if I'm ever going bare legged or wear maxi dresses in the summer.

Dermablend in the shade that matches you best, is great for legs. I have a million of the unsightly buggers around my inner ankles, and never go anywhere without my tube of D in Summer! I sometimes use concealer stick if I'm in a hurry, but the Derma lasts all day long.

Reading the post by @sunshinechaser I haven't tried laser on my legs, but I won't bother now! The areas are huge and it would probably cost me an arm and a LEG 😂Luckily I don't need laser anywhere else. Well I probably do, but it's minimal and on my cheeks so concealer works fine. I'm a fright first thing in the morning though lol.
