Why is it so hard to buy shorts to exercise in?!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/09/2024 16:36

Following surgery I need to be doing physio 3 times a day and I can't bear to wear my usual exercise leggings.

Just sent back yet another pair of shorts. 🙈 These were supposedly long ones and still so bloody short.

I don't really have a problem buying summer shorts, I have good legs (when not recovering from surgery!). So why is it so hard?!?!

Can anyone recommend some please?

P.s. don't say buy men's I've tried all of DH's shorts and they don't work for me either.

They are a bit expensive unfortunately but Sweaty Betty Explorer Shorts are the best ones I’ve found. They come in different lengths (I have the longer length ones) and I love them so much that I now have 2 pairs.

Out of stock in all colours apart from pink unfortunately. Nice shorts though expensive! Thanks.

I was going to recommend the SB shorts too but see they are out of stock. I also have these from M&S, they are not long shorts but have a double layer, like cycling shorts underneath and normal shorts on top. I use for yoga class to stop me flashing people.

My favourite ones are from Amazon. Are you looking for cycling shorts style?

Ineffable23 · 04/09/2024 17:53

I sliced the bottom off a cheap pair of leggings about 3 years ago and they've not frayed at all, I was really surprised. Might be an option - I just had a cheap pair from sports direct.

What are you requirements? I like fabletics longer length shorts and they have a phone pocket.

Oysho running shorts. I don't run, but brilliant for all exercise.

Leggings are currently fashionable and so there are no shorts for love or money.

Thanks I've tried several versions of these but all of them have been so short I wouldn't feel comfortable going out in them to my physio.

A longer version would be ideal as I quite like the layering.

I have a few pairs of these from Marks. Lovely thick waistband, drawstring waist, very comfy.

No definitely not. I need something I can go out in public wearing! They need to be baggy or a longer version of the 2 in 1 layered style.

Oh right. If it's the 2-in-1 style I recommend looking at brands like Ronhill and Asics on sites like Wiggle and Start Fitness. There are loads in a range of lengths. https://startfitness.co.uk/products/ronhill-tech-4-5-inch-twin-2-in-1-womens-running-shorts-black

Would basketball or football shorts work, maybe with cycle shorts or ¾ length leggings under?

Thank you. Haven't heard of this brand. Dont think any of the shirts are quite right but they have lots of lovely tennis gear for when I'm (hopefully) fully recovered!
