I have going to things as someone's "other half" the whvle thing makes me cringe, but thankfully this year its not casino night at a dodgy hotel. Buffet at upmarket bar, concert, drinks.

What can I wear? I have no going out clothes at all.

Personally, I'd wear black trousers and a blouse/top with some blingy accessories.

Have you anything at all you could start with - nice skirt/trousers which you could dress up with something new without spending a fortune (unless you want the opportunity to splash out!)

I'm not exactly a style queen tho so hopefully one will be along to help soon!

Not a style queen but will help if I can ... Agree nice top and trousers/skirt would be good

What sort of things do you like ? Best and worst bits ? General shape and colouring etc. ?

I love this top - flattering for a lot of shapes

thanks for somewhere to start

I'm a 14- 16 bust and hip, smaller waist but somehow a bit of a tummy.

I used to be quite flamboyant in a smartish/funky sort of way in the days when I had money and less flab. I don't really do black any more unless its an lbd. I like that top but I think with my boobs I might look a bit Judy Finegan [not that the rest of me looks like her at all thank gawd].

I think DH may be prepared to throw some money at the problem, the price of my amiable attendance.

Could do an lbd with some bright accessories or a bit of a pattern

like this

or this with opaque tights and platform wedges

or this

love this but may be too dressy

I sympathise - I hate going out with dp's work tossers mates
