Another grey hair one - for natural warm blondes

I've let my blonde dye grow out for several months to see what my natural colour's doing. It's awful - not silver, but a dull and gloomy grey with no 'character' at all. I'm thinking of dyeing it grey because fake grey looks a lot more stylish than this!

Whenever I've used an ash blonde dye, the greenish tones made my face look really tired and sallow. Having suddenly wrinkled quite severely, the last thing I want is to look even more creased and knackered than I am. So the prospect of dyeing it a full-blown ash colour doesn't fill me with excitement.

The blonde dyes that suit me are 'baby blondes' and 'light beige blondes' - both have a warmish cast, not red or yellow but maybe lilac? I'm unsure.

I'm usually very gung-ho about dyeing my hair but, for some reason, I've been paralysed by the thought of going both darker and less colourful. Anybody got any good ideas?

How old are you and do you go to a salon? If you don't, could you book and appointment for a free consultation with a colour expert?

I'm 43 and have decided to grow out my years of bleach and highlift tint highlights, because my hair has been thin and brittle for years and isn't getting any better ☹️ So decided to try and preserve what I've got and be much gentler on it. Went to the salon I've been at a while on Friday and instead of my usual head of ashy blonde foils I just had some dark hair dye put through (she kept thr blonde bits at the front out). She said we'll be doing a balayage effect for a while whilst it grows. Luckily my hair is short and grows quickly, but she said it'll probably take a year to get back to my natural hair colour...I know it'll be 50% grey but I'm kinda looking forward to being more natural and hopefully have healthier hair with less breakage.

I'm sure I'll hate out mousy, dull and not-nice grey it'll look and will go back to bleach/beachy/ashy blonde again in a year !

69 and no, I can't afford it! I mainly use box dyes but am fairly proficient in using salon products as well.

You've made me think - maybe I should go for a darker blonde this time, then add some silvery highlights after deciding it looks boring 😏 Thanks for the idea!
