Only recently discovered gel nails, but think I'm done

I've never been a high maintenance girl, but having recently found myself single for the first time in 30 years, with some time and money on my hands now DC are adults, I've started doing a bit more for myself.

My hands have always been a bit of a mess and the first time I had them done properly I was astounded they could actually look that good. Same for my feet. I'll stick with the feet, I think as it covers the horribleness of my damaged toe nails, but I think I can save c. £40pm by tidying my own cuticles and using the Essie dupe nail hardener. It think it actually looks nicer than "properly" painted nails.

Or am I deluding myself?

What is the Essie dupe nail hardener, is a clear strengthening formular or a colour formula?

I love a gel nail, have a home kit but want to go back to regular polish for a break and because I am scared of all the stories of people developing allergies.

I use an OPI strengthener base, a gelly shine from Barry M (from my years old collection but still going strong) and am in search of the perfect top coat.

Done well they can look amazing, but on me don't last, and I usually paint my nails shortly before bed, then end up with marks on them from my pillow!
