Are beige macintosh raincoats back in fashion?

I had lunch is a hip restaurant yesterday and I noticed quite a few well heeled work groups in with nearly all the women in those long beige Macintosh style rain coats. Are they back in vogue these days?

They're a timeless item, so never go out of style.

Flasher Macs? They've definitely seen a resurgence around here.

Completely in fashion although I’m short so went for a shortish one

I’m not sure a trench coat is ever out of fashion. Timeless item.

ComealongMartha · 28/08/2024 11:54

They never go out of fashion. They are a staple, especially this time of year.

True but I am definitely seeing more of them in the past two days than I have in years.

Yes they are definitely back in fashion.

Beige and nude colours generally are very much in fashion, more’s the pity for me.

@campuspulse

I think it's more a case of sometimes, you notice a whole load of a particular item at once. Also, the weather has been a bit shit/pouring with rain!

I love mine! It's definitely always in style but I think neutral classic / clean girl aesthetic trends this year have really pushed it to being more popular than normal too.

I agree with this. But ironically it's been too wet here for me to wear mine much, a raincoat without a hood was always going to be a risky purchase...

They are a staple for when it is showery but not cold, and outdoor gear is not appropriate.

I've had a midi length big name label one that I bought second hand a few years ago. I love it for swanning around and posing but, for functionality, it's probably the most useless coat I own as it keeps me neither warm nor dry.

Never out of fashion. I got a New Look on Vinted for a tenner. No one would know.

FuckThePoPo · 28/08/2024 13:59

I heard on the radio that Burberry are in trouble. Love me a trench but only in my mind as I'm very short and a bit chonky

BatshitCrazyWoman · 28/08/2024 14:09

It's pretty warm in London so I've not seen any recently. But in the spring/autumn I do.

Personally, I dislike them. All the buttons, and flaps and dangly belt. Not for me.

Your fashion magazines and suchlike will tell you it's a 'must have' item you simply cannot live without. However when I wore mine on a recent trip, all of the male members of the group referred to me as Inspector Gadget all day.
