Smartish wide leg comfy black trousers - any recommendations please

I would like some trousers for work which are black, comfy, wide ish leg but not excessive pantomime style and are a medium weight fabric for autumn. I also don't want to spend over 70 pounds max. In the past I had a brilliant pair of bootcut Boden Richmond trousers that were great but they no longer do these and their other trousers are 95.00.

Any ideas please.

I have 3 pairs of these from M&S (2 black and 1 houndstooth) and really rate them. Although I'm sure they've gone up by a tenner since I last bought some:

Actually I think it could be these ones that I have:

Thank you. I will try them. How is the length? I am 5.4 and sometimes M abd S are really long even in the regular length.

Sounds v random but Hollister Livvy. Range of leg lengths too

InandOutlander · 27/08/2024 20:33

These are THE best trousers - they have an adjustable waist

Women's A&F Quinn Tailored Straight Pant | Women's Bottoms | Abercrombie.com or they have more wide leg version as well but I prefer this which is still not "narrow" straight leg. they do petite as well

The Boden Westbourne ponte trousers in black or navy are great. They're normally over your £70 budget, but I think the 20% off offer today brings them inside https://www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/westbourne-ponte-trousers/sty-t0266

Seconding these. They’re a lovely weight and feel like real quality. I have two pairs (black and navy) and they’re a bit snug in comparison with other M&S trousers so don’t be tempted to size down.

agree with Marks; these are also jersey wide leg (but another price range)

Those Westbourne ones might just be the right thing. Thanks all. Lots of great ideas.

I might have to try the Hollister ones. I ordered some white stuff wide legged trousers and despite supposedly being an 8 they're massive so going back.

livingonhomemadesoup · 27/08/2024 23:02

I've just bought a pair of jersey friends like these wide leg from next. I sized up as my usual size felt a bit clingy . They're great and not too ridiculously wide.

nothingeverhappensinstmarymead · 28/08/2024 07:18

I think the Boden Westbourne are exactly what you are looking for - they are my everyday smartish trousers. Fine for work but also comfy enough and hard wearing enough to wear everyday around the house. I have three pairs!

I got some from Next that meet all your requirements.

I've got the M&S jersey ones. I'm 5'8" and the regular are fine for me if I'm wearing flats, even with large soled trainers they'd be a little bit short.
So at 5'4" I think you'd need short (even though I would say I am tall and you are average height).

ironyisnotlost24 · 28/08/2024 12:10

Someone may have already posted but the M&S jersey pull on trousers are awesome and come in different lengths, fits etc

Would recommend to anyone. So comfy, wash and wear.

The marks and Spencer ones. Worth a trip to try for the weight and feel. I bought two pairs and they are my literal go to for work. Will probably be for another five years!

The comfiest pants I've ever owned.
Smart casual, elasticated waist and not too expensive.

Me and DS just watched Friends Apartment Pant episode! 😅👖

I have four different pairs of Halara trousers. They are really well priced, comfortable, stylish and wash well.

That's great to hear. After much online searching for the perfect wide-legged smart trousers I thought these looked the best and ordered them in two colours the other day. Due to arrive tomorrow!

These shrink in length. I had some that shrunk and were too short. Reviews also say that they shrink.
