Comfortable but stylish trainers for commuting?

Hi all,

I need some new trainers for commuting now we're getting into Autumn and I'm looking for recommendations. My commute has a lot of walking so they actually need to be "proper" trainers (ie not Adidas Gazelles) but also stylish too. I usually wear midi dresses so ideally looking for something which goes with these. If the trainers are more "sporty" I can change into other shoes at work.

although I haven't tried them on so they may not actually be comfy. Another option I was thinking is getting a black and white pair of nikes or asics as the colour should hopefully make them less obvious. Open to thoughts!

I have two pairs, of the ones with chunky soles, they got me through three weeks of a holiday with a lot of walking, in both town and country. I wear them most days.

I'm wondering about this too, mesh are too cold in winter so a leather / faux leather is what I'd be looking for.

Cole Haan Grands (especially the original grand) are smart enough for work (they are a cross between a brogue and a trainer) and do waterproof shoes. They are built on a Nike last, so they are SUPER comfy.

Skechers! Like walking on cushions and you can wash them. (Not done that yet, got them recently).

My most comfiest trainers are adidas bravada. Would say they are more fashion than sport. They are platform not “thin soled” like gazelles and feel incredibly spongy. I wear with midi dresses, skirts etc.

Hoka for the eighties look. Most comfortable trainers ever. It’s making it hard for me to wear any others.

I also rate Woden for style and comfort.

My New Balance 9060's are the comfiest trainers I've ever owned, and I'm somebody that tends to suffer with their feet. They're new out and very on trend.

My only caution would be not to get them in white/cream as the suede marks easily.

I got one pair in a shop and then I knew my size. The other two pairs I got off Amazon.

Hush puppies. I know they sound like old lady shoes but SO comfy. And I like them.

I have a long walk to work from the train and I wear Nike Air force 1s low. They are really comfy. Not cheap though.

If I was only wearing them to walk in then Hokas are amazing but I think look awful with dresses so I'd have ti change out of them at work

I used to wear my Nike Running trainers for my commute and just change into my shoes at work.

I will be buying black New Balance trainers soon, great for when you need to walk, but smart enough for my fairly casual work place (I wear a lot of black boot keg trousers in the winter)

Ive seen 4 pairs I want on the website. Dont know where else I can get them. Not sure waht to do as I would also need to order 2 sizes in each to be sure of the size

@soupfiend I don’t know if this helps but I am a size 3 - 4 depending on the shoe. I have wide feet and all my Wodens are a size 4.
