Boden Corsica swimsuit wearing really badly - advice?!

I splashed out on two pairs of boden Corsica swimming togs in December 2022. Realistically I only wear togs a handful of times a year when on hols; so I might have worn them max ten times since I got them. The navy togs were almost unwearable this year (just finished hols) as they have lost elastic (and gone saggy) around the ruching on the stomach and look kind of sandy (if that makes sense). They are still lovely around the top. Devo as I absolutely love them.
I don’t think there is any way to get them back to wearable… and it’s prob too late to complain to boden? has anyone had this? If you have any advice let me know!!
(also I do wash per instructions) (and the second pair is fine it’s just the navy ones that are wrecked)
thank you!!!

I think the ‘sandy’ bits are where the stretchy threads have perished. Swimwear often gets like that from being overstretched or from abrasion (eg at the back from sitting on rough surfaces). You can’t repair it, so if it’s neither of those, I’d try and get a replacement. Swimwear should reasonably be expected to last more than 10 outings!

It's where the elastic has gone. They're either too tight, you've sat on it too long or sat on something rough, you dried it on a warm towel rail or in the tumble drier or you've been in the sauna and hot tub in it too often. Sports swimsuits tend to do better than fashion ones, but the fabric just isn't really ideal for wearing all day as outer clothing. It's for swimming in.

I'd write it off to experience - anything could have degraded the fabric- swimming pool or hot tub chemicals not rinsed off for example. I really recommend Pour Moi - they are my go to. Quality is fab and the two suits I have have taken a hammering and still look great.

Thanks a mil all - @StamppotAndGravy you are right - I’ve used in the sauna a few times so I bet that’s it as it was fine after last years hols & I only noticed when we went this year.
@Henleylady thanks for the rec; I’ll check them out.
I emailed boden and they said they’d give me a tenner credit which isn’t much but at least now I know about the sauna so I won’t lose any more togs!!

I had this with a similar Boden suit bought the same time. I didn't even wear it until a few weeks ago (had waited for others to wear out first) and it looked like that. Another nail in the Boden coffin, I used to love them so much.

@Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright I know what you mean - I bought three dresses in the sale a few weeks ago and I couldn’t believe they were boden; material and fit was nothing like the dresses I already own from them; felt v cheap (tho I could have been unlucky)

I’d just buy a basic swimsuit in sports direct and save the nice ones for sunbathing only.

Its a lot to ask of a fabric to survive chlorine or sea water.

TheGander · 26/08/2024 15:31

Boden is dead and buried as far as I’m concerned. I must have spent £1000s on them, and one day released nothing I’d bought there had been well made, or flattering, or well fitting for years. The stuff looks good on the website and catalogue, but it’s a different story IRL.

Chickydoo · 26/08/2024 16:19

I brought a Boden Bikini this summer
Have worn it a few times on the beach (all fine) once in a swimming pool in the Uk and it has gone a weird yellow colour.
What a waste of money!
I won't be able to wear it again. Really pissed off. I would complain but have deleted the order email, so don't even have an order number now.

TheGander · 26/08/2024 16:46

The straps of the Boden bikini I had used to pop off whenever I dove into water, design fail as far as I’m concerned.

Rigatone · 26/08/2024 16:57

I ruined a Boden bikini this year the first time I wore it- ruined the bum going down the rapids at center parcs. Quite rough use but surely should stand up to that. They refunded no issues, but they would be able to see I'd literally just bought it.

LoobyDoop2 · 26/08/2024 18:54

Do you wash them with fabric conditioner? That will make the lycra perish faster.
I always wash my swimwear with travel wash straight after wearing- I leave them to soak in the bathroom sink while I shower- and then hang them out to dry overnight, and they last years.
