I've got a fairly flash dinner tomorrow for work. ABout 350 people or so, industry association kind of thing..alot of bankers etc.

I've lost quite alot of weight recently (now down to a size 12) and i went and bought this dress

www.tigerofswedenshop.com/products/detail/2_20_138_189

but now i feel it might be a bit short....although i was going to wear it with darker tights and these shoes (pleas don't shoot me...i know they are horrendously expensive, but they were a present)......

www.net-a-porter.com/product/27351

honest opinion....is it all to va va voom...or can i get away with it?

I think that will look very nice.

PengTheMerciless · 17/04/2008 13:49

Gorgeous dress, gorgeous shoes - is it a bit tarty for work though? I would want to be less sexy at a work thing. If sexy isn't a problem, go for it.

dontshoutatme · 17/04/2008 13:49

thanks student. I'm sure once i've had a few drinks i'll feel sooo much more confident!

with dark thick tights it won't look tarty.
I love the dress

claricebeansmum · 17/04/2008 13:52

You are wearing tights with peep toe shoes???

Love the dress - can you buy in UK? Whats the £/Kr rate

I think it will look very classy. It is an evening event so you will be fine. That dress looks as though it would do for lots of evetns.

dontshoutatme · 17/04/2008 13:52

peng. when i have it on it looks quite Robert Palmer if you see what i mean...depending on the amount of lipstick I wear (which will be minimal). Wanted to look very "sharp" IYSWIM. The few women who do appear at this event do usually dress up cocktail style....hence i thought i could get away withit. May also take somerthing else with me and dither at the last moment

the dress is wonderful and the shoes .... you will look stunning ... have a great time .. i think because the dress is so lovely and tailored, and business like, the shortness will give it the edge it needs ... i dont think its too short, but then i did love micro mini's in the 80's!

scattercushion · 17/04/2008 13:58

Looks gorgeous, sophisticated and shoes add raunch appeal.

CountessDracula · 17/04/2008 13:58

very nice
I wouldn't wear the shoes as I would hobble around like a crippled goat

But if you can - go for it!
I take it you have small norks to be able to wear that neckline...

dontshoutatme · 17/04/2008 14:05

not sure if you can buy it in the uk claricebeansmum....i got it in sweden! Exchange rate is about 10, so its about 120 quid

OP posts:
dontshoutatme · 17/04/2008 14:07

norks are not overly large. Its not a neckline i would normally wear, but the fact that it is cut a little lower at the back is really nice

thanks for your advice everyone

Looks lovely.! X

claricebeansmum · 17/04/2008 14:13

I really like it. I am of an age when an armless shift dress can look a bit...muttony. This a LBD with sleeves! Cool.

dontshoutatme · 17/04/2008 14:31

ah - we think alike then. Personally I do not like the top of my arms anymore...am always on look out for lbds with sleeves!

OP posts:
dontshoutatme · 17/04/2008 14:32

oh - and re the peep toes...the holes are so small you can't even see my toes...hence the tights!

the dress is understated and elegant and the shoes are just a little bit pervy, which gives it some edge. will look brilliant
